    Old Hammers

I see old hammers pop up in all kinds of threads. How about one place for all old hammers and related objects? I'll start things off with an early J. YERKES. small straight pein hammer. "J. YERKES PHILA _ SOLID CAST STEEL" May be the original handle. I forgot to add that picture. May be for...

WWII G.I. Bill Builder’s school Craftsman Tool Set

My brother-in-law is trying to re-construct a Craftsman tool set, with box, that his father was given when he was in some kind of carpenter’s or builder’s school about 1946 under the G.I. bill. He thinks that the set included two hand saws, four chisels, a brace and auger bit set, and possibly...

BUCKEYE JACK MFG Co. Wrenches and Jacks

This set of six DBE wrenches are nicely forged and finished. They are oval shaped shanks with sizes ranging from 3/8 to 1”. I don’t know who actually manufactured them, but the style of the raised lettering does seem to resemble a particular era that Bonney made. Interestingly enough, Bonney...

    Help Identify 3/8 Female Ratchet

I don't know anything about this 3/8" dr. ratchet. About 6 1/2 OAL with an interestingly shaped forged handle profile. The ratched seems to function, and the reversing lever is operational. I didn't see any maker, but there is what looks like "No.2887" on head. Any help?

Herbrand first use of alloy steels in wrenches

Alloy Artifacts presents the 1919 claims of Herbrand for the first use of alloy steels, in tappet wrenches, although AA found no documentation to support that. Herbrand began using their script logo in 1921 and the earliest example of an alloy steel tappet wrench on the AA site is marked...

    Tool Source in Denver

Visiting Denver from Kentucky and visited a small but well-stocked used tool store. Practically in the shadow of Coor's Field. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable and the store is pretty well stocked. Vintage tools in the basement. Brought home some Dodge Bros., Walden, Williams, Ford...

Small forged 'S' DOE Unknown Maker

I have these three forged 'S' DOE wrenches. I can't identify the maker by the oval and stylized M (or W) logo. Anyone recognize these? Lugz referenced this here: post 484 https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274782&page=25

    Vintage Valve Grinder/Lapper

Anyone know who made, or sold, this hand Valve Grinder/Lapper? The body is a casting and the knob is wood. The reversible drive piece is held with a cotter pin. Look familiar to anyone? (Sorry for the poor picture. I still don't have the hang of it yet!)

    Show your WILLIAMS Tool Boards

I came across this Williams little board. Worked out great as I already had the wrenches. All are NOS except the largest 12". All have the panel logo of the 1970's. (I had to mount the wrenches kattywampus so the board would hang straight from the original single center eyescrew. Need to make a...

    Old Forge Toolbox

I found this in Kentucky just across the river from Cincinnati. What do I have here? Kind of looks like an old Snap-On K-9 or K10, from the pictures on the web. Decal seems to say Old Forge. Then there is a partial Patent No 167548###. Is this the Old Forge that AA refers to as Quality Tool...

    GJ site acting differently

When I access this page, I used to see 'active' only those threads with new posts since I visited last. The others were 'grayed out'. Now, everything is still bold, and only the threads I have hit are grayed out, no matter how old. Anyone else experiencing this, or is it me again? Thanks
