    Show your new tool arrivals

Today, I got the Picquic Teeny Turner. Like its big brothers in the Picquic line, it's very well-built and robust. This is not the stubby. It's for precision fastener work, like electronics and computers. It'll even work well on eyeglasses. At $6.29 on Amazon, it's a perfect stocking stuffer.

    Torque Angle Guage

If you're putting food on the table with your tools, go with the Snap-On, if you can swing it. Durable, convenient, recalibrate support, warranty, etc etc. If for use in your home shop buy the best deal and replace as needed.

Carlyle Wrenches - Made in China?

In small towns, NAPA is often the go-to for parts and quality line tools. The other choices are Wal-Mart or Amazon. Please expand on NAPA not being trustworthy. They have economy tools and parts available to serve the budget shoppers, but are their premium products no longer good?

Moving a sea container on the farm

Our local tow company has a large rotating disk rig that does amazing things. His rate is $700 per hour, from his shop until he returns. It would easily do the job, but you're probably looking at close to $3K, which is getting close to the price of a used container. I like the idea of placing a...

    Floor Jack rebuild

The Daytona jack sure isn't a throw-away tool. Lots of them are in use in commercial shops and tire stores. There's a bolt in the assembly that the handle slides into. Loosen that bolt, slide the handle in, and retighten the bolt. I'd still rebuild the old jack. Having two floor jacks has...

    1/2" Torque Wrench just died.

Well, I just bought one of these lug nut-specific torque wrenches on a whim to keep in the garage. I kind of like it. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-drive-80-160-ft-lb-preset-lug-nut-torque-wrench-58628.html

    CoThG's Toolbox question thread

If he's hiding from the tool truck guy, he's got a lot of other creditors hounding him too. It's so easy to get behind these days with mortgage/rent payments, multiple $1k car payments, and credit card payments. Then something breaks or unforeseen medical emergencies happen and it all starts to...

Oxy acetylene torch and tanks used price

If your space is limited, it's pretty easy to store a setup like that. Seems like a decent deal. What brand are the torches?

    Gas Fireplace Noise

Thanks, Dog. It does run on LPG. I'll have him confirm the BTU to gas line ratio. The one on display at the store was silent. He's had more than a few subcontractor workmanship issues he's run across, but mostly electrical and plumbing. It wouldn't surprise me if the black pipe guys took some...

    Gas Fireplace Noise

A friend installed a 54" gas fireplace in their living room during the new construction. The unit and remote control work well. Their complaint is the noise the fireplace makes while in operation. The noise is the gas burning, kind of a hissing. It sounds just like my old Coleman camping stove...

    Flex head ratchets - Why?

I love the 3/8 roto head. I use socket length and extensions for fastener access. The flex head gives you swing access. Big difference. I've recently bought the Icon 3/8 long handle roto-head, and I'm impressed by it.

    Wood splitter table/ramp?

Like all things Wife related, clear concise communication is the key. Eye contact and a nod work well for us. Being raised on a ranch, she understands machinery. She has been my side help for years in many dangerous endeavors. I trust her work. But you are exactly right, introducing a second...

    Just because

I am a complete sucker for vintage American-made tools at garage sales. Lots of duplicates, but they were saved and have a good home. I know I'm not alone.

Ever loose a Nut or Bolt while working on your car?

I hate the full-length aerodynamic plastic shields that are under vehicles these days. Nothing falls through to the floor anymore.
