    15" planer table

I bought an 80s Taiwanese planer and found out the middle table was cracked.:shocking: If anybody has a spare one or parts machine (they are all pretty much the same, even on new jet/powermatics) send me a PM please with what you think is reasonable! It weighs 58 pounds and wouldn't be super...

What to do with old saw blades

I accumulated around 15 old circular saw blades for 5" to 10" over the last few months. Some have vibration reliefs, some don't and some are plain steel but all of them are unsafe to use. The carbide tips are chipped, falling off or the whole blade pitted. I already started to make a shop...

Best day ever, Craftsman table saw score with NOS goodies!

raftsman table saw score with NOS goodies! I saw this ad on CL for an older 8" craftsman table saw. It showed a couple accessories, 2 miter gauges but no fence. I emailed and he said he had 2 fences for it. I didn't know if that was true or what I would do with a second Craftsman contractor...

Where do you get your motors from?

How do you price an old motor? Market values are all over the place (in terms of what people are asking/bidding) Where do you guys find old motors? On old tool finds, or do you even buy them individually? I appreciate any comments, just trying to figure out what others do!

Is this large Thor die grinder worth it?

I've been seriously considering getting an electric die grinder recently. Basically to use small wire wheels to get nooks and corners with the bench grinder couldn't reach. Also flap wheels, cratex and cut off wheels(with a face shield and ppe as they do not have guards) I don't really see...

I done goofed, need help putting motor back together...

Title says it all... A couple months ago I pulled apart this 1/3 hp GM ridgid frame delco appliance motor a guy said was junk. It ran fine after blowing sawdust out of it. I took it apart to service and clean and took pictures of the terminals. Well, I can't find them now, they were probably on...

What do you do with your old wrenches and sockets.

In retrospect, I probably should have titled this "miscellaneous" but that comes along with buying piecemeal old tools. Anybody looking to do an exchange?

    Beach/Mastercraft tool box ages

I really like numerous old small top boxes and machinist boxes I can carry (barely sometimes) and have been looking at kiji for some more. I do not live in canada but can have somebody pick one up for me up there so I don't know about the Mastercraft brand much. Are these top boxes good quality...

    Homemade long shaft buffer/wire wheel

I was going through some stuff this weekend and found the babbit pillow blocks and shaft from my great grandfathers home made table saw. The poured babbit is in perfect shape as is the shaft. It is 7/8" in diameter and has left hand threads on one end. I think the flange is machined into the...

Need a quick ID on a large bench grinder

Can anybody help me out here? Contacted the seller but am waiting on a reply. Looks to be huge compared to the miter saw, switch, and cord. It looks to have a single phase 110v plug also. Do you think its Taiwanese made or us? Any ideas on make? Thanks

    Brushes for vintage power tools.(Resources)

Hi all, I've been looking into getting brushes for some 50s 60s handheld drills and sanders. With an 80s Milwaukee I ordered through a service center. What do you guys do for replacing them on old or out of business companies? This can expand to repulsion induction motors too, those can be...

    Shopmate power tools

Through all the garage sales this summer I picked up some shopmate tools. The jigsaw was my grandfathers but the other 2 I bought. I really like the style and build quality of these. I'm not sure of the ages but IMHO any old full metal casing tools should be in this section. Here is the jigsaw...

    Never used JA Swan gouges

I picked up a large box of chisels, bits, scrapers and planes this summer. Along with a Witherby set were these 2 gouges. [/U] [URL=http://s48.photobucket.com/user/Shawn_Cimonetti/media/Mobile%20Uploads/KIMG0234_zpsx9fexxqz.jpg.html] They are both the exact same length with different...

    Coating/finishing many spacers and pawls.

I have this coffee can full (60+) of anti kickback pawls and washers. The have clean finished wood slide under them at all times so they can't have a finish that will rub off. That being said it won't be used that often and will sit in an unheated garage. They were previously black oxide but...

Anybody else have problems with ace spray paint?

I was in ace getting some 4 dollar storage bins and picked up some machinery gray house brand paint to try, also 4 bucks. I have a couple cheap projects coming up. I tried it inside on a small motor end bell and it *****! I shook it up very very well before each coat and used in a 60 degree...

    Electrolysis Indoors?

BEFORE YOU REPLY I have no plans to do this and am not soliciting safety advice. I've read enough warnings not to and have seen the power of hydrogen. I am curious about this as I have read in many places to only do it outside and do not cover the container as it produces hydrogen and oxygen...

    Beat up 15" planer restoration

A couple days ago I picked up this American Forge and Foundry 15" planer and a first gen shopsmith with all the accessories for 50 bucks. Both of them had good motors too! It has handles that screw in so you and a couple others can lift it. No idea of the weight. Aaaaaaand here's the catch...
