I just bought one of these for a gable vent. Their whole house classic version may fit your vent. The fan I installed was 10x the quality of anything in the store and you can't even hear it running.
I screwed a 1'x4' piece of plywood to my garage truss and hang clamps off that. Anything that doesn't fit will hang over the truss itself. It works well for my setup.

I've done the garage and house over the last 2 years. When I was comparing I came to the conclusion that Owens Corning #1 and GAF #2. The certainteed I seen were sub par quality. I liked Owens surenail technology. The shingles also seemed a little thicker and heavier.
I'd purchase a newer furnace before I paid for a 2500 repair to an ugly chimney. I'm dealing with something similar. My roofer is going to knock in the chimney when he does the roof ($100). I just replaced the water heater that used the chimney with a turbo vent out the side of the house.

I just zipped tied my release cable. I see this product has a warning not to do that since it would make their product unnecessary. I do realize there are safety issues with zip ties.
I have no windows and no glass in the doors. They get in the way of how id like to set up the shop. They are also a huge security issue. If I didn't have to worry about security I'd say go for it but I think it's a welcome mat otherwise.
You could use a mortar/grout bag from Home Depot. Just need to close the one end somehow.

^^This...that flashing red light is reading a number to you which corresponds with your furnace. Once you figure out that number it will be a little easier to diagnose. There are plenty of youtube videos to help just type in your exact model.
