    Help identify this jack

It does work, but not smoothly at all. There are a few other corners with marks so I'm sure it's been apart before. I'm also curious about the brass square plug on the top of the base- don't see any online in this design with that, so I assume it was drilled at tapped by someone in history, but...

    Help identify this jack

Thanks for posting that. I'm leaning toward 20.10a due to the base design. I found this from a 1952 catalog. What my base looks like:

    Help identify this jack

That's the conclusion I'm coming to. It was definitely sold as a 15 ton model. I assume the original jack failed and whoever owned it at the time put this Hein-Werner in. Will call hydraulic repair shops to see what they'd charge to rebuild it for me. The press was cheap enough that I'm ok...

    Help identify this jack

Looking online it looks to be either 20 or 30 tons. Don't want to order multiple rebuild kits and return the one that doesn't fit. Will keep digging for more details on identifying their jacks.

    Help identify this jack

Need to rebuild his bottle jack that came with my Snap On H frame hydraulic press (model YA616) but can't tell who made it. Any suggestions?

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

Thanks guys! It was a lot of work, but it's a great machine. And special thanks to CrotalusAtrox for helping get it out of the truck. Would have been screwed getting it into the shop on my own!

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

Thanks man! I don't think it was a recluse, but spiders belong outside. I want them eating all the bugs so the scorpions don't have any food and go somewhere else [emoji23]

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

Thanks Shawn. The needle gun does such a good job on bronze. Really gives the right amount of texture for mimicking the sand cast. I'm not sure exactly how far I snugged the clamp bolt when it broke. I was trying to bring the whole assembly up about 4", so I wanted it snug enough not to slip...

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

All done. Decided from the beginning not to repaint it. The paint under the filth was actually pretty good, and I have a tendency to over-restore things, so this time I throttled back. I think it came out great. Hope you guys like it!

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

Started reassembly and tidying the electrical. Used new SO wire from the switch to the motor, and a new cord to the wall. New belt as well. Making an adjustment to the table raising mechanism which is where the real trouble started. Cranked down the clamp just a little too much and *pop* goes...

Buffalo No. 15 drill press refurb

Hi all, thought I'd share my just completed refurb/refresh of a Buffalo No 15 and maybe help someone with an idea or technique. Bought the press at an estate sale. Last of acres of junk included the drill press and not much else. Took it home for $100, which is a great deal for old iron around...

    Baldor blue matching spray paint?

Baldor sells spray cans of the color. Otherwise take it to your local automotive paint shop and they'll mix a custom color and put it in an aerosol for you. I ended up getting 2k paint for my paint gun, but it wasn't too much more to have it put in a can.

19x48 LeBlond lathe added to the shop

Can you knowledgable people make some suggestions for collet use? I'd rather not have to change the chuck each time and use a dedicated collet chuck, so I have been thinking about using a collet holder for ER32 or ER40 collets, and just hold that in the 3 jaw. Seems that ER type collets are...

Thanks I just sent two replies- the first one my fat thumb hit the wrong number. Second message is correct!

19x48 LeBlond lathe added to the shop

Wow, thanks for your thoughtful and well written response. I'll definitely be following many of your suggestions. I have 4 new V belts in my Amazon shopping cart, ready to order when I hear the motor run successfully, and careful leveling will definitely be part of preparing to make chips. I'll...

19x48 LeBlond lathe added to the shop

Thanks! Hopefully it's not a basket case. I spent the evening and into the night here running power for the VFD. 10 gauge is a lot more annoying to run than 14! I shouldn't complain too much- in another few months the attic will be 140 degrees, and I do not want to be up there like the AC guys...

19x48 LeBlond lathe added to the shop

It is an L-0. I'm in need of a 4 jaw, the 3 jaw is only 10", but seems to be fine.

Thanks and yeah I hope she fires right up. The motor is the size of a pickle barrel and is only 2 horse, so I'd imagine it's very skookum.
