Harbor Freight 44" roller cabinets discontinuing?

to the OP. Just wait a little while. There will be a ton of used boxes on the market when the deeper ones, in assorted colors come out. I would guess the going rate will stay the same as now- they go for about $200 used, in very good condition (at least around here). You can't beat that...unless...

Large Vise 8" how to mount on mobile stand

in my limited use of vises on stands, if your vise weights 75lbs, the base better weigh at least 2-3 times that to make the vise usable. That pretty much rules out a wood stand. How about a picture of the vise- I would think a Wilton with 8" wide jaws would weigh a lot more than 75lbs, unless...

how can I trim 3/8" on cabinet face

drill with a small rotary rasp? Hey, you said you have a trim piece to cover up the cut.https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-5-8-in-Steel-Rotary-Rasp-File-for-Rasping-and-Filing-Wood-RR681/205869637 These things work great.

    Parker Vise Found- Fair Price?

I would stick with the Columbian you already have (I remember the post). #1. Its already there. #2. the Columbian you have is a flat bottom mounting- you don't have to deal with that front lip, or make a spacer block to mount it.#3. the Parker won't do anything your Columbian won't do. I guess...

Question about adding 7 drawer cabinet to 5 drawer HF cart

around here you can buy a used 44" cart in good to excellent condition for $200. They don't pop up every day, but once in a while. You could sell your cart and buy a used 44"er- then you have a long wheel base cart- much more stable and easier to roll around.

    DeWalt air compressor

if you are saying 3/8 inches, that is not much shorter than new brushes. Are they clean, or have any burn marks? Check out the commutator-clean with rubbing alcohol and q-tip.

    Craftsman 51855 main nut question

how about posting a picture of your vise? Usually, the best way to handle this situation is to find a donor vise for parts, or simply buy another similar vise. Otherwise, you will spend more money on parts than you would for a similar vise (like a d46) from CL or a garage sale.

What are the main uses for a bar clamp ?

I used a pair to straighten out a SnapOn 7-drawer roller cabinet that fell out of the back of a moving pickup (the box was empty at the time). Worked great. Of course, I had the pipe clamps for wood working...

try Habitat, or other thrift stores. They go for anywhere from free to maybe $10-20 each. There always seem to be a bunch of them around.

Would it be wise to build a security door for garage?

A "somewhat seedy area" in Spokane is probably one of the best neighborhoods up there! Hahahaha. As Poorowner said, make a running car out of all the parts, and drive the hell out of Spokane! Probably one of the highest property crime areas in the entire pacific northwest area (Spokane is...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Its a keeper, forever. I had that same vise for years, then thought I needed a larger vise. Found one, then sold the Cman. Started reading GJ, then the problems really began. A few dozen vises, and 40 years later, I have the big vise I wanted, but wished I kept that old Cman. Then, just...

    Wilton non-marring jaw covers

youtube will give you all the info you need. I use a piece of galv steel- the kind used on roofing valleys, bent to fit the jaws. Its free, on any building site these days! It works great. Old bicycle inner tubes work great to hold odd shaped or delicate items.

    Wilton vise issues

what is your goal with this vise? To get it functioning, or to throw lots of dough at it and make it good as new? It sure seems like you have the wrong spindle and horseshoe washer for your vise. The only way I can think of to make it work without spending a lot of money is to install a thick...

    Another Vise thread

define "typical stuff," then we can jump in here. I do typical stuff, and currently I have 2 vises, a 4-1/2" Columbian fixed base, which I use for almost everything, and a Wilton 4" Tradesman that I bought because I read too much garage journal and thought I had to have one, and it looked neat!

    Wilton vise issues

I think I see what you are getting at. It almost appears that someone swapped in a smaller diameter main screw, and that is why there appears to be an undersized horsehoe collar on your vise. Before we panic, how about cleaning the **** off the head of your main screw to find a part number. i...
