    Vise on a stand question

actually I think you will find that bolting it down solid with 2 bolts and no rotating base feels a lot more solid than with the original rotating base. Next thing you know, you will be looking for a fixed-base vise. Thats all I use these days...

    Two vises - Opinions wanted

I sold a 4" Parker #954, for $80, in perfect condition. No dings, no welds, and best of all , a very light coat of paint. I do not like to buy used vises with tons of new paint on them. Too easy to hide things. Keep looking.

    HF 44 or Homak 41

I had an older Homak and found it to be easily as solid as the HF44. I preferred the drawer layout of the Homak, plus I paid $80 for it... but it did require some work and cleanup and a new lock.

    All older roller boxes

I bought an old Craftsman 3 drawer roller cabinet, missing the lower panel. I use this box at home, so I just made a couple of wooden drawers, and loaded them up. Works great. Now, if I can find an easy way to add a lock bar, so the drawers don't slide out when I move it...although with friction...

Craftsman toolbox lock set work for a Husky box?

I can answer part of that question. I have found that the opening in the back of the bottom lock that fits the rod can vary, even among Craftsman boxes. There apparently is no standard rod end for Craftsman. Husky rods? Who knows. Best if you take the bottom lock out of your box and take it...

Older Craftsman Box needs a couple new slides

find an old Cman donor box. Those old friction slides last forever...unless they get bent. I am waiting for a donor lower panel door for an old Cman roller I recently bought. Otherwise, its not worth buying new parts.

    Husky tool chests

not really. That Husky only has 50lb rated drawers, and since they are wide drawers, they will eventually probably sag to the point of rubbing on the drawer below when opening and closing. No easy fix for that.

hf new tool boxes.....black 44" new 56" and stainless boxes

over the past few years, the red 44"ers have gone for $200-225, and they have been in new to very good condition. Demand seems to be very slow for then here in Oregon- I routinely cruise craigslist statewide.

hf new tool boxes.....black 44" new 56" and stainless boxes

almost the same price as the red 56" box on sale, though. Didn't have a black one in my store today. Hope this black 44 goes on sale for the price of the red 44". There will be alot of red 44inchers on craigslist!

    Columbian Vise Help

any chance you have a "before" picture of your entire vise you can post, or even pictures of the pieces? Also, be careful not to go nuts on cleaning the slide- wd40, steel wool, wire brush, but no power tools until you see how much room you have to spare. Ask me how I know! You don't want to...

    Columbian Vise Help

If I am looking at what you are calling a pin, I believe that may be the tip of the set screw that you are trying to remove. I've had several Columbians (they're my favorites), and the tip of the set screw rests in the shallow hole in the lead screw to keep the collar in the correct place. So...

    I was tempted

around here, the 44" bottom boxes go for $200 used, if they are in excellent condition. The tops go for $100-$150, no joke.

Test for dead Bosch impact driver?

take the tool over to Lowes, and "borrow" a battery from the display. This will rule out the charger and battery. I did this with mine, and found out it was the tool. Took it home, opened the tool up, and found out the motor was dead. Oh well.

HF coupon for 1/2" torque wrench?

I've had this Craftsman torque wrench for over 20 years, used for lug nut tightening only- never over 100 ft lbs. In over 50 years of using tools, its the only tool I have broken. Seriously. I have a HF 24" break bar for everything else- it is still in 1 piece.

got to agree here. The simplest way is the best way...and this is it!

    need a price please

doubt that. They were just on sale for $339 brand new at HF. Around here, they sell used for $200 if they are in good to very good condition. Wheels are expensive to replace.

    Fake Snap On Toolboxes?

the ad has been on CL for 20 days at least (it may have been reposted). Unless the guy is not willing to budge a bit on his prices, there may be some other reason why they haven't sold, in a city of 20 million people.
