old coworker had a massive snap on one. that ones quite nice to use but also pretty pricey. the slugger is also a nice one. the otc one is ok if you're working on small cars.

a couple have said already, mayhew (snap on), dasco, starrett, wilde and proto are the favourites here. you can't go wrong with any of these.

ouch. Usually when im servicing something really odd, i'll just run up to the computer to make sure i've got the right kind of fluid, where to fill it and how much while its draining. Also get a long flexible funnel. it makes filling all kinds of trannys easier.

get a used like oldtools says. any of those he said are good, and snap on is a good one too.

for special things, i wouldn't think twice about modifying a cheap socket to make it fit.. that is very odd to see a 1/2" thinner than a 3/8" too.

does the wobble get worse over time?

what could you do with this that a normal vise can't?

those picks are nice, but sometimes you need it to be a little pointy.. i'd rather have one that's pointy and one that's not pointy..

try them yourself. i have regular grips and i find they're easier to clean off. Everyone has their own preferences, can't go wrong with either one.

you don't have to kill the fittings.. just snug and a little more.
