    Shop Made Wooden Machinist Chests

Thanks - I forgot to ask - what finish did you use on your boxes? I've been alternating between Minwax wipe on poly/ Arm r seal and Osmo top oil or Polyx oil. I like the simplicity of the oil, but I feel as if the poly provides more protection. Also - Your metal drawer dividers - are they...

    Shop Made Wooden Machinist Chests

Very nice work!! I've made several and appreciate the amount of work that went into yours given the box joints, drawer dividers, etc. Here's a smattering of my current collection. 3 are made by Gerstner (Lower left, left and far right) I made the others plus a few more that I gave away.

Below 265 SQ/FT New Garage work bench

Nice start! I like how you lowered your planer so that its work surface is at the same level as your workbench. Will probably help eliminate snipe. As far as drawers - like you, I made an open base workbench first, then added drawers. I made this unit to fit into the opening. Baltic birch...

Need a new Circular Saw, but what to get?

I have a corded Festool with the tracks. Only use it to cut sheet goods. Great - very smooth accurate cuts. I also have an older corded Milwaukee that I use for 2 by material.

Portable tool box, small toolbox, mobile tool bags, cantilever toolbox for essential tools

Nothing in the box now. I've upgraded to a Packout for more space to keep in my vehicle. I'm thinking about what to put in the old box next.

Portable tool box, small toolbox, mobile tool bags, cantilever toolbox for essential tools

I have a small tool box problem. Mostly homemade from wood. And a metal one I made in shop class in 1970. The wooden ones don't get much use.

    Shop toilet

Toilet drains to a sewage ejector pump pit (sealed) in the basement floor. Once the level of waste water reaches a certain level in the pit, the sewage ejector pump pumps the waste water up through a 2" pipe into the main house sewer line (overhead in the basement). Then out to the septic tank...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thanks - finish is easy - 1 coat of Annie Sloan clear chalk paint wax. Applied with a wax brush, waxed first half, then buffed, then waxed the other half, then buffed. Stuff is great. I'll probably add a second coat in a few months.

    Bathroom pocket or barn door?

I made a barn door to replace the French doors we used to have in our master bath. Toilet is in its own mini closet at the far end of the bathroom.
