let's see your craftsman block grinders

In my area that's a $10-$15 piece. Personally I'd pass. I paid about half that asking price for this one and barely have $30 in it including the refurb which is in post #11751.

    Tool box question

I think the owner is asking a bit much. What would be a good price to pay in that condition?

    Tool box question

Can anybody place a date range and approx. value on this Craftsman box? I'm not sure if the inside tray is the original.

My most recent. The original label was trashed so I improvised. Then again I don't really do resto's. I just do refurb's.

    Show your Millers Falls tools!

UPDATE: Research has shown that this tool handle is not a Miller Falls tool. Rather, it was patented by G.W. Wright of the Sargent Tool Co. in New Haven, CT. less than 10 miles from my home town of Milford and is older and considered harder to find than the Miller Falls model. Cool. See that...

    My latest acquisition.

And here it is ready and waiting for a new wheels. The Dayton will take the place of this old General Arbor set up which is deserving of a rest.

What is this small vise with sliding rear jaw?

Never seen one like that but nice score. Bead blast the paint off, repaint and set it on a shelf. It'll look cool.

It was beat up and almost unreadable. But you're right, I kind of regret it already. Will probably try and tape off around and clean it. If not I'll find a sticker of about the same size and cover it.

It is a pretty stout unit. Thank you, thank you very much.

    My latest acquisition.

So, with a CL asking price of $20 and a take home price of $15 I just had to buy it. It started up right away, ran very well with no vibration and took a reasonably long time to come to a stop so I'm comfortable with the bearings at this time. The original badge was very abused and borderline...

    Dayton bench grinder question

A friend of a friend says he's selling a "large" 3/4 h.p. Dayton grinder Mod. #4z707. I can't find that model on line and the only one I can find that looks like it is a model 1z707 listed as 1/3 h.p. Anybody familiar with model 4Z707 or know if the 1Z707 also comes in a 3/4 horse version? He...

    Fabricating A Gas Tank

Me too. I stopped using tank liners on motorcycle tanks many years ago. If the inside of the tank is not perfectly clean and not perfectly dry and not perfectly and evenly coated it will peel. Hell it may peel eventually even if all those conditions exist. Weld it up and pressure test it. If you...

    Weird little screwdrivers

It's always cool when you can tie a tool to a particular company or purpose. My little yellow one has been floating around amongst my tools for God knows how long. Don't know where it came from but it was made in the USA! Not many cheap tools can say that these days. I've had several of the all...

My Asian fusion machine vise refurb.

The color is rattle can Rustoleum Hammered Deep Green #7211. It looks pretty good up on the drill press and it does what it's supposed to do. For a total investment of $15 including paint I'm happy.
