Why pipe plug sockets instead of just extensions? For example, 1/2, 3/8. and 1/4 pipe plugs... can you just use an extension in it or is there a reason to use a pipe plug socket?
I have a custom set of tools I want to make. Who makes the best cheap torque adapters that would make a good custom tool? No I’m not chopping up my Snappys. By torque adapter I mean this:

At what socket sizes do you guys switch from 1/4" -> 3/8" -> 1/2" -> 3/4" drive?
I'm curious about both SAE and metric numbers.
Seems like the socket sizes/drive overlap quite a bit. Example: 3/8" socket with 1/2" drive. Also, 1" socket in both 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive. I'm asking "why!?"
How much is a used Snap On Epiq KERN602B worth? It's in pretty decent shape and no rust or dents from what I can tell. No fancy top - just the rubber mat and no remote unlock system - just they key. Slight scratches on drawer trim, but nothing beyond cosmetic. What do they go for new/off the truck?
In working on aircraft, we often have studs that only have enough clearance to get a box end wrench on them when the nuts are not tightened. This is so that unless ALL bolts are loosened and backed off almost all the way, no single bolt can fall off the studs.
So, I regularly run into a problem...
I tried the Vaughan TC702... before they discontinued it. Received three... all were horrible finish on the ball end. Saw several others. Same awful finish.
What is your favorite 2 oz ball pein hammer? I'm looking for: nicely machined/finished heads and excellent quality. Also, not looking to...
Seriously. Both El Cheapo ones and Snap On. I somehow end up bending the tips through normal use very early on no matter how nice they are. Eventually, as we all know, this leads to the tip breaking off. Any ideas? I’m tired of it. Seems like every time I get a lock ring out. *not* snap rings.
As an aircraft mechanic I need to remove rivets... a lot. This is done through drilling a hole in the center of the rivet head then gently prying the head off through the hole. A same-size drill bit or punch works great. I don’t want to use my nice punches for this task where it is easy to bend...
There are so many different brands of clecos... who makes the best ones?
Interested in the normal plier operated kind as well as the side grip clamps.
Thanks!
What's the best RPM for aircraft sheet metal and structural work, and why? The usual options I see are 2600 RPM, 3600 RPM, 4300 RPM, and 6000 RPM.
Is it at all necessary to have a reversible drill or are non-reversible perfectly acceptable?
Anybody measured one and done the math? HF doesn’t publish square inches even though they list cubic inches at 14000.
Drawer dimensions would be nice too.

Are Snap On KRA series tool cab drawers reconfigurable? As in re-arrangeable or order, or able to put different drawers in (obviously from the same series and same width drawers)?
I know some of the Kennedy boxes allowed you to completely re-arrange the order of the drawers.
Anybody with one...
I'm looking for a toolbox that is at least 40" wide that has drawers the full length across. I would buy a Harbor Freight 44" but I don't like the drawer arrangement since it's just the 26" cab drawers plus some smaller less useful drawers. Bigger wider drawers are more useful and don't waste...
Inside spring caliper vs telescoping gauges
Hi,
It seems that a good quality inside spring caliper should be capable of making the same measurements to the same type of accuracy as a set of good telescoping gauges. So - why would I buy a set of telescoping gauges instead of a good inside...
Is the Snap On COMBOSQ3 combination square https://store.snapon.com/Measuring-Sets-Combination-Square-P806599.aspx just a re-branded Starrett?
Online, the pictures look like a Starrett, even the case, but I'm asking if anyone has seen one of these with their eyes alongside a Starrett, or if...
I’m trying to decide how long of an extension I want to have around just in case I need it. Just out of curiosity, what’s the longest extension (for a ratchet) you’ve ever had to use, either one piece or combining pieces? I’m training as an aircraft mechanic and I’m trying to decide how long is...
