Best lubricant for a ratchet with given tooth count and drive size?

Based on the poster right above you, I've suddenly come to realize why I've developed a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome over the last month. Also, does your suggestion apply to a climate controlled garage? Winter is coming and I'd hate to have to regrease my ratchets.

Best lubricant for a ratchet with given tooth count and drive size?

I did all 5 of my ratchets awhile ago (I'm retired). Took them all apart, cleaned out the old grease and re-greased them with wheel bearing grease. I just never thought that the type of grease I was using was a debatable subject.

Who else works on projects a little at a time?

I always try to go end-to-end on my projects. I can't stand the thought of having partially finished stuff around. I'm installing a new patio slider when it gets here next month and I've already got all of the new trim for it painted. I like economy of motion and getting the most amount work...

Northern tool air compressor leaking air

I replaced a mangled line just yesterday for a friend of mine (The copper unloader line on the front). A couple of feet of tubing and two ferrules and about 15 minutes of hand-bending. An easy job for just about anybody.

    Fire Insurance vs. Homeowner Wiring

Suddenly urination and Tony The Tiger come to mind here.

    Fire Insurance vs. Homeowner Wiring

As far as I can see, the 'professional' members of the forum, meaning electricians who do it for a living, are the ones most inclined to make the gloom and doom comments about the refusal for an insurance company to pay due to hacked homeowner wiring.

    Just An Old Compressor

I have 2 Campbell Hausfeld 60s and neither tank has the thickness on it....but just by tapping on either one I can tell they're not 3/16"

    Just An Old Compressor

The owner scraped off the tag and it shows that the tank is built from 3/16" stock. No wonder it was so heavy.

    Just An Old Compressor

I went with a friend yesterday (all the way across the end of a cul-de-sac) and picked up this fossil. It was free from the estate of a man who died after disagreeing with a national medical recommendation. It's 1955 vintage and runs fine. I'm redoing some of the discharge plumbing to get rid...

    Fire Insurance vs. Homeowner Wiring

After reading the responses to my original post, it appears that what I thought is true.....Claim denial for stupidity or negligence is covered, except in rare instances. I will show this thread to the friend that I helped properly wire the 240 circuit for and I will henceforth (!) take...

    Fire Insurance vs. Homeowner Wiring

This question is being asked as a 'inquiring mind wants to know' deal, so here goes. If a person does faulty wiring in the house or garage and it burns down AND the wiring is found to be the cause, does the insurance company have the right to refuse payment? I wonder how this would work. How...

Real estate improvement and out pricing the neighborhood with a new metal building

When I bought my current house (2 years ago), I was specifically looking for a property with a big garage and I got it. I didn't pay anymore for this property than similar houses without big detached garages were going for at the time, showing that the garage (30X42 stick frame/sided to match...

    I found this humorous:

It's not every day that I see a three faced compressor for sale.

Looking for feedback on first "true" box - The great debate between HF, HD, ET, SO, and more!

I've got a lot of high-end tools and I wouldn't think twice about storing them in a HF box. The quality is very good from what I've seen looking at them long-term. I'm going the rest of the way with my late-'70s Cornwell boxes. (Just thought I'd throw that in there)

Hydraulic hose for air compressor? was told not to use it

It would be more cost-effective to stay with the pipe thread fittings and use a swivel adapter to be able to install the hose. Using one of these, you can make up the hose on the bench and then install it. Hydraulic swivels don't use teflon tape on the female part, they seat just like JIC and...

Hydraulic hose for air compressor? was told not to use it

I made hydraulic hoses professionally for over 30 years. I made 75 (probably) of this type of hose to go between the compressor and the hard piping for customers as well as myself. There isn't a reason not to.

What is the advantage of a step drill bit?

Zerk fittings - how far to tighten?

I thought 1/4-28 was straight thread and 1/4-18 was tapered pipe.

    Car lift hydraulic additive

I think all of Lucas Oil's stuff is snake oil. Z-Max, also. I have no proof of any of this, but the use of these products (and similar ones) just gives me the creeps. No need to post case histories.
