How to light my new garage.....

A couple of questions. 1) Do you have ceiling access? If so, you can run wiring properly to 'old work' boxes for the lighting layout desired. If not, you'll have conduits running box to box for the lighting layout. 2) Where's the panel? I'm guessing you'll want at a minimum a 20a for outlets...

    Welding resistant floor

I'm guessing that was in reference to PVC tiles. An unglazed porcelain tile would probably only show a bit of soot.

    Cast Iron Skillet Restoration

A mild soap and water (hand only!) wash isn't harmful (e.g. a mild detergent like 'dawn'). The key is to get the water driven off afterwards (i.e. reheat to >212*). I'll then spray some 'PAM' on it while hot and wipe out.

    Cast Iron Skillet Restoration

For those that asked about seasoning, I'll add what works for me. 1) Get the CI cleaned to bare metal (I usually use electroylisis) 2) preheat an oven to 250 3) Do a final wash with water (sometimes a bit of vinegar to help cut any flash oxidation) 4) Put the dry CI into the oven (no oil yet)...

Attached garage is an electrical nightmare. What wire to feed 50a subpanel?

If the existing sub is only for the mudroom, I'd remove _everything_ back to the main, run your new (properly sized) wire in conduit all the way from the main to the new panel in the mudroom.

Have you considered tiling it instead? Half tiles all around would make a nice waterproof basing.

College Grad First Build, Low Budget, Need Design Input!

Do that ... on the adjoining lot, put your new building. Since it's a seperate lot your "garage" could qualify for a habitable structure, e.g. a small house/apartment with a large garage . The existing non-compliant structures can't be simply torn down and rebuilt non-compliant (at least not in...

    Re-tiling the kitchen...

A pic of my island over a "floating floor" ... I used some 3/4" ply to make a base that the brick sits on. it's back about 1/2" from the brick face so the floor slipped under and has space to "float". No trimming out around brick was needed
