Auer Packaging - Sortimo alternative for small parts storage?

I have an RFQ into the local Sortimo "guy" but I am not particularly hopeful that the quote comes back much better than list. I am just installing in my shop, not in a full fleet of trucks. This is what the Durham metal drawers would most resemble, but they would allow for me to lift them out...

I have one of these ordered now. I will check it out.

Auer Packaging - Sortimo alternative for small parts storage?

I have been absolutely locked up trying to evaluate all of my options for shop storage. I have landed somewhere in the realm of either Sortimo ($$$$) containers or Durham steel drawers. I like the Sortimo due to much lighter weight and the flexibility of the cases. The Durham is attractive...

I will never ever buy a jet clamp again

That's just crazy to me. I know of several other guys who bought and own twice as many as I have and they are all 100% quality. I guess the pandemic is taking its toll on Jet manufacturing.

    50 vidmars

I would think these would go for 50-100 each in the big lots. A lot of transport and logistics costs though... If this was in Texas I would do it all and sort it out. I would take 10 of them at 100. Who else is in??

I will never ever buy a jet clamp again

Did Jet offer any kind of solution or support?

I will never ever buy a jet clamp again

That is really, really disappointing! I have about 14 Jet parallel clamps and I LOVE them! I bought them several years ago and I use them all the time. At the time, I picked them over the Besseys (I have several of those as well) and the Jorgensens. I hate to think that their QC has gone...

    Rolling Service Cart Recommendations?

I had one Rubbermaid for years, and I still have it. I added another larger Rubbermaid cart about 2 years ago. I use them all the time and love them! They roll around well and store what I need when I am working on them. I put all of my tools away between jobs. If I was a tech in a shop, I...

The Orange Snap-on tools **** thread!

SnapOn hard handles are the greatest. It's what I grew up with and what I like. I prefer the red to all this orange, but I have to say there is some passion in this thread and I read through all 16 pages of it!

What material do you use for your countertops?

I really like two layers of 3/4" birch plywood with a sacrificial layer on top. I have used hardboard in the past, and I am thinking about going with MDF on the current bench and applying thinned wipe on poly. It is supposed to soak into the MDF and add strength and water resistance (who knows...

    Show Your Drawers 2022-2023

Wife - What are you doing in there, honey? Me - Just looking at guys' drawers on the internet... Wife - (looks over my shoulder) See anything good? Me - Yeah, lots of good stuff.

What Temperature is your Garage in the Winter?

With the insulated doors, my garage is about 60F most of the winter.

    2022 Home Depot's deals/sales/clearance thread

Carrying over the conversation from the 2021 thread. I am super jealous of anyone who was able to take advantage of the Spax clearance. I love their stuff.

    Brake cleaner from Napa

My local NAPA commonly runs brakeclean specials (CRC, House brand, 3M....) in some kind of rotation. I just buy a case when I need it and start watching for sales when I get to less than 6 cans. It's good to have a NAPA guy!

    2022 Home Depot's deals/sales/clearance thread

The cull cart is where I buy 30-40% of my oak lumber. The local HD was really good about pulling out the bad pieces. But even if 30% of the board isn't in great shape, I can buy the board at 80% off and then cut off the bad parts. Then make clean pieces out of the smaller "bad" drops. Total...

    good soldering iron?

I like the newer TS80P, but I don't have a lot of time playing with it yet. Its aluminum casing, the size being a little smaller, and the USB 3.0 are all very attractive upgrades.

    good soldering iron?

I really REALLY like the TS100 for a corded (but still mobile) soldering iron. Uses 12-24VDC, so I can run it on the bench using an old laptop power supply (very flexible cord) and it heats up FAST and stays exactly where I set it and I can use a battery attachment to run it off of a...

Do You Still Use Your Shop Air Compressor?

I have been able to downsize my home shop compressor to a pretty small lubricated compressor instead of a huge unit. This unit is enclosed and makes much less noise than the comparable compressors that I was looking at purchasing. I still prefer air for a few things and it comes in handy, but...

    2021 Home Depot's deals/sales/clearance thread

Not many will have anything left.... the two closest to me had a handful of lag screws between both of them. It would be worth making a run down the fastener aisles to check.
