    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

The righter radius curves on the 4' long 4x4s I did with the bandsaw, on the larger pieces I used a jigsaw and finished with a belt sander. If I did it again I'd spend the time getting the first piece just how i wanted it, cut 1/8" or so off the line on the others and use a template router bit...

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

Got the brass pins all trimmed up flush and sanded nicely tonight. The tool/jig I used to do it, just a polycarbonate and uhmw sub base for my Bosch colt. I love this little router, which is why I have two and would like a other one.

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

Made this table for my boss. 3' square and its all solid ash. he's going to top it with a 5.5' suare piece of 3/4" glass. All braces have threaded rod through them, its a SOLID table. Since I finished that table I've been working on a small trellis for my wife to grow hops up. I'm trying to do...

Black Iron Pipe - how to fasten to rafters

I like uni-strut and clamps personally but it is a bit of overkill unless you want to run some air lines along the same area. x2 on the tape and dope, I do that on every threaded fitting I can and rarely have any issues with leaks.

How To Make Sanitary Stainless TIG Welds

I just started a new job 6 months ago at a company that manufactures beer and wine equipment, including brewhouses. I'm doing design and service work, mostly in the office, but i've started playing with TIG and the guys who are good make it look easy. I'm decent at stick but TIG is a different...

I spray magnalac precat lacquer for my clear of choice. As others have mentioned a proper mask and ventilation are key, stinky stuff

Makita compact reciprocating saw vs Milwaukee Hackzall.

sorry, i missed that. The new 12VCXT and 18V makita look the same at quick glance. I'd assume the 18V has considerably more balls.

Makita compact reciprocating saw vs Milwaukee Hackzall.

I have the older 12V max version and it is severely underpowered. that said it has saved my *** a few times with its compact size. for 12V I think milwaukee fuel as the edge.

I did pretty well the same thing in my Shop as a temporary solution until I can afford a gas fired unit heater.

    Single Car, multipurpose Shop (11x25')

My bench top is 10' long x 24" wide. I used a full sheet of 3/4" G1S plus another half sheet of standard 3/4" ply. Two layers with staggered seams, and seams are biscuit jointed. I was also contemplating doing a laminated maple top (butcher block) but never could find the time to get to my...

    Workbench top

I went with two layers of 3/4" ply, G1S on the top coated in fabulon polyurethane. I plan on eventually capping it with stainless or I would have probably gone with a layer of hardboard on top and trimmed it all with hardwood like I did on my son's mini-bench.

    Single Car, multipurpose Shop (11x25')

Topped my steveo style bench in some ply over the last week. 2 layers of 3/4" with G1S on top. biscuit jointed the ends and glued it all together. Got some coats of poly on it last night and this morning. I'm planning on topping it with stainless eventually if i can stitch enough scraps...

    Tool Bags

I love my Veto MCT but they're pricey pieces. I've actually been impressed with the higher end Husky bags, they've really stepped up the quality on them. I have the 22" tool tote which is part of their "pro" line and its quite nice.
