    Storm Shelter in pole build?

Being in "tornado alley", I'm sure there are precast shelters available that you can set in place before you pour. How do costs compare to building your own, not a clue!! Cheers Steve

    DIY WHOLE home painting

Are the floor coverings in place or have they been pulled? This is a big item, if not, they will have to be covered and covered well. Airless sprayers produce large amounts of overspray and it gets everywhere!! You have to balance the prep time vs. the time saved with an airless. I have done...

Liquidating workshop - what's better - Auction, Ebay, Craigslist?

Around here tool auctions usually are well attended and bring good money BUT don't think that you can sell off the choice items and then get top dollar for the **** that is left! You need the choice items as a draw for the sale. As said above, take care to select a good auction company that you...

    What's the NUMBER 1 tool you'd recommend?

This is more of a woodworking tool, simple in design but so helpful when moving 4x8 sheet goods by ones self. A good tool does not need to be expensive or complex...

Anyone have experience reclaiming wooden water tank staves?

I ran across a bunch of staves from a large water tank one time. They were cedar and were absolutely clear, no knots. As said above, there wasn't a square corner and the inside and outside had a radius. That being said, it is probably some very nice clear lumber and probably worth the effort.

Garage cabinet, help ID wood species

I believe this is the correct answer but is quarter or rift sawn. I just finished working with some quartersawn white oak and you can clearly see the flecks in some of the pictures, especially post #13. Cheers Steve

Ice Dams and New Roof/Insulation Question

Knee walls and dormers, pretty much a classic definition of a Bungalow! I have a 1918 Craftsman bungalow and the upstairs is finished exactly as you described. What you call sloped walls, I call the ceiling. Anyway, my ceiling (sloped walls) is 2x6's and is insulated with 6" kraft-faced batts...

    Concrete slab costs

$4.80 a sq ft. Seems reasonable, here in Nebraska it's around $4.00. Cheers Steve

A few questions on converting 2 doors to one

Just because an 8' door will not work does not mean that you have to settle for a 7' door. You can get doors just about any height you want, usually in 2" increments I believe but don't quote me! Cheers Steve

I have a case of the wants.

I have a TP cabinet similar to what you are looking at and use it quite a bit. To me, the secret to utilizing it to the maximum is having it all set up and leaving it that way. If you have to move a bunch of **** to get to it or drag air lines to it or hook up a vacuum, you are probably not...

    Bendpak HD-9XL assembly question

Looks to me like the thin strap was bent during transport. Straighten it out and let the support rest on the flanges

    Bendpak lift crating

Aquaticbob explained the unloading process quite well. I just want to emphasize that the lifts are well packaged but are designed to be lifted from the ends to facilitate removal from a box type trailer. The are not designed to be lifted from the side (at least mine wasn't). They can be damaged...

Thoughts on DirectLift PP9+ vs Bendpak HD9-XW

You do not need this to operate the lift, it's just a nice-to-have accessory. It provides electrical and air outlets located on the lift. You can just use your shop air to operate the air locks. Cheers Steve

    Circulator pump ?

Without changing the feeder line sizes, can't think of anything. Make sure the flow restricters (if you have them) on the manifold are wide open. If you are dead set on increasing your flow rates, changing the 160' or so of accessible feeder lines from 3/4" to 1" will eliminate a lot of head...
