    Interesting garage building with tower(?)

Most likely an old firehouse with a bell tower. Our village volunteer FD used a bell on the water tower to call firemen to duty before modern communications came into use.

    4 post lift decision

Just curious why? I have the HD9 and the pneumatic locks were one of the reasons I went with Bendpak. I much prefer them to the mechanical locks.

What kind of livestock stanchions are these? Photos inside...

Exactly, dairy stanchions. Not used in modern dairies. Personally don’t see much value there, possibly a hobby farm or dairy?

Pressure Tanks n Reserves for long term showers

What makes you think the well won’t produce what you need? My well is about that deep and will pump 20 gpm all day long. I would put a pump on it and go from there.

    Fire destroyed my beautiful garage.

To the OP, I feel feel your pain. This happened to me 11 yrs ago, I lost my barn/ shop to a fire, including a 1968 Chevelle SS 396 that I was restoring. As others have said, automobiles are not covered by homeowners insurance. I had collector car insurance, so all good there. A few words of...

Need help determining value of machines and tools

Yes, she could sell on eBay or CL but it’s generally a PITA and will be restricted to the local marketplace unless she is willing to ship. IMHO the best way to sell is to have a well advertised on site auction using a known and reliable auction service. Here in Western Nebraska the commission...

Building will have 12' walls, but how to make living area ceiling at 8'?

Consider 12 ft ceilings and use radiant floor heat which only warms objects and people. It does not send all your heat to the ceiling.

Help Deciding on Radiant vs Forced Air

Coming at you from across the border in Western Nebraska. You absolutely want radiant floor heat if you can justify the first cost especially with 16’ ceilings. The $60 k estimate is ridiculous, I did my 3600 sq ft shop 7 yrs ago for around $2/ sq ft but XPS was $32/ sq ft not the $54/ sq ft...

How do I figure out the sag on this?

You are way over thinking this. That container will support pretty much whatever you want to put on it. It is designed to hold over 20 ton of cargo supported on four points. This means that the whole container envelope is essentially a beam spanning between the corners.

    Eagle Lifts

I bought one 15 or so years ago. Decent lift with manual locks. Would probably still have it but was destroyed in a shop fire.

Do you get the dread that your great grandchildren are going to have to deal with your tools, hardware and general stuff?

Obviously, I'm not qualified to give legal advice, but here in Nebraska unless there are special circumstances, NO.

Do you get the dread that your great grandchildren are going to have to deal with your tools, hardware and general stuff?

Both you and your wife NEED a will!!! We recently lost our 42 year old son to colon cancer. He had no will and we had to go thru the probate process even though his estate wasn’t all that large. It took over 6 months and $1000 In attorney fees. While you’re at it, ask your doctor about...

    Woodshop Layout for Power Purposes

this is my 14 x30 woodshop. My layout table and Unisaw are centrally located and are at the same height as is the workbenches and the RA saw. This allows me use the table as an Infeed support for long stock being ripped. The worktops on the cabinets support long stock being crosscut. Most of my...

What do you wish you had done differently when you built your shop?

What would I have done differently when I built my shop? I can honestly say, except for an outlet here and there, NOTHING! I planned and planned for two plus years I considered present and future needs. Now that being said, I did have space and financial means to build pretty much what I...

Who has a toilet in shop or at least a sink

Here’s a picture of the rest of my system. I used a chamber system instead of perforated pipe and rock. I rented a mini excavator to do the digging. Google plastic barrel septic system. Plenty of information and plans available. 9

Who has a toilet in shop or at least a sink

Here’s the bathroom in my shop. Also pictured is the small septic that I installed instead of tying into the house septic. The shop bathroom is so handy when we entertain either in the shop or in the yard, keeps people out of the house. Having a separate septic has been a lifesaver when we have...

    Removing center post

Not an add on! 20 ft 2x8's will not span 20 ft and support the attic and the roof!! The beam is integral to the structure.
