    Propane heat

I've seen a few here use it as primary. I was shocked.

Liftmaster 8500 Remote Push Button Question

I have two Liftmaster 8500 openers. There are two wired controllers and two WIRELESS, plus an exterior key pad (see pic below). It's my understanding that you can add as many WIRELESS controllers as you like.

Is there an easy fix for this? Garage door doesn't seal

From the pic, it looks like the rubber seal is kinda collapsed. They are usually open at the end. Stuff some foam in there until sealed, that's what I did.

Replacing a bunch of 3-way and 4-way switches

Ahh, thanks, so each terminal will be labeled? The old switches should also have labels? Thank you.

Replacing a bunch of 3-way and 4-way switches

I have a small apartment building with a bunch of 3-way and 4-way switches in the hallways. The switches are all dirty and old. I want to replace all of them. Probably about 16 switches in total, I'm guessing they are ~25 years old. The switches are all basic standard toggle switches. My...

Feasibility of lift in my garage

I would recommend getting a reputable contractor to look it over in person. I will add that a good lift is worth almost any aggravation or price!!!! I built a big addition a few years back and I made damn sure I could get a nice 4-poster in the new garage!!!!!

Recommendation Needed - Pull out chest of drawers for nuts/bolts/misc

I use something similar to this. The advantage of this type of organizer is that you can SEE through the ends of each bin, so you don't have to keep guessing about which drawer washers are in, versus nuts, versus bolts, versus screws, etc, etc.

Supply line from water heater. Do I need 1/2" or 3/4"?

I am running new lines for a water heater and have a question about sizing. Attached is a pic which shows my question. On the main line out of the WH, it's about a 25' run to the T-fitting, which has 1/2" lines out. But on the 25' run from the WH to the T-fitting, do I need to use 3/4" line, or...

Tell me if I'm being too fussy about a level.

This is a great thread. I have a bunch of mediocre levels. My small HD electronic level seems spot on. A couple of my larger levels are off just a little bit, when I performed the checking method described numerous times in this thread. These levels have no obvious adjustment, they have inserts...

Concrete uneven under roll up door. Cost to add more concrete.

Thicker seal..... adjust as necessary....... that's what I did, and it worked perfect.

Bendpak lift leaking at pump. What to fix?

Me, I'd be a little bit gunshy about taking forum advice for something like this. I'd be sending an email to my Bendpak guy.

For property tax purposes - is this "living area"?

Haha, I did exactly as you suggest. I went through the informal appeal process, and talked to an appraiser. I invited them to come out and go through my house top to bottom, and confirm sf of living area themselves. They did NOTHING.

For property tax purposes - is this "living area"?

THANKS for all the help folks! I actually ended up hiring a local lawyer that specializes in these appeals. It ***** that I have to waste $1500 on legal fees when I've done nothing wrong. But I want to make sure I have someone who knows the local laws, and the players. Thanks again

For property tax purposes - is this "living area"?

Recently my town did a revaluation for property taxes. My house value went up dramatically, so I decided to look at the information they were using. I was shocked to see that my square footage of "living area" went from 3,083 to 4,404!! Mind you, I've made no changes to the property in 8 years...

Jack trays. How are you supposed to use them?

I used the bottle jack to just get the tires off the ramp, then I'd support the diff on large wood blocks and lower the bottle jack, so that the weight rested solidly on the blocks of wood. It can be pretty safe on a jack tray, but like anything, you gotta be careful. I hear ya on the prices of...

Jack trays. How are you supposed to use them?

On my jack tray, I've used either small bottle jacks, or small floor jack. Eventually I realized how dangerous that was, so I bought a second rolling jack, 3500lb capacity. I have 4500lb capacity rolling jack up front. Two rolling jacks is the way to go on a 4-poster.

Air nailers: What do you have and what do you find most useful?

Get battery-powered nailer(s). You'll never again want to hook up an air hose after you use a battery-powered nailer. No compressor to lug around. No power cord to trip over. No air hose to trip over, etc, etc, etc.....

Looking for a late model large, comfy SUV or Crossover

As stated, I'm looking for a large, comfy SUV or Crossover, something around 2015 to 2018 model year. I already have a Chevy Silverado 1500, so I don't need another truck. I need something that drives more like a car. I prefer the 'truck' seating height and entry/egress, and I like the safety of...
