2 post vs 4 post lifts

I have a Challenger 9,000lb 4-poster, extra-tall, with two rolling jacks. I use it to work on vehicles and to store a vehicle. It is fabulous. For the guy that wants only one lift in his garage, this is it IMHO. Advantages of 4-poster over 2-poster: 1) Easier to drive the car on, 2) No arms to...

4 post lift owners: how plumb are your posts?

I have 9,000lb capacity, 4-poster by Challenger. Initially installed it unbolted, within a week had mishap which ALMOST collapsed the lift and would have resulted in tons of damage, if not death. It was my fault, but it would not have been as dangerous IF I had bolted it down. Needless to say, I...

Jack Stand Vs Drive On Mini Ramp?

Whatever you use, make sure you have a backup support in case the primary support system fails. It happens all the time. Looks like a very miserable way to die.

Anyone created a false (stationary) OH door panel?

What am I missing here??? Just put in two 10'h doors. You're striving for that 'symmetrical' look, anyway. So why go through the trouble to make it actually look like 2 10'h doors, but have one be an 8'h?? You totally lost me on this one, or maybe my brain just ain't working tonite.

Why are my automatic center punches stuck?

Great video on the operation of the punch. I've been using them for years, but never knew exactly how they worked. Very clever! Thanks for posting. Always learning here on GJ Forum.

    Coolant pressure tester

I've had the same Stant for 30+ years. It still works good and looks like new. Awesome piece of kit.

How do I get a wood baseball bat out of a cleanout?

Yep, this ^^^^^^^^ I have one of these long drills. This would do it ... easy..... If the bit end didn't hold the bat, just fasten a screw onto the end of a dowel and get it that way.

Suggestions to dampen flooring vibrations when walking around

I own a 2-story, 2-family house. My daughter lives on other side, which is a nice plus. The house is about 40 years old and is decent, but was not built with much (if any) attention paid to soundproofing. We can hear/feel each other walking around, not a huge amount, but enough to be annoying...

    Motive brake bleeder

I love my Motive bleeder. I also love reading the wide variety of comments about it (or just about anything) here on GJ. This has to be one of the best forums on the old interweb. I love all of you, even the a$$holes! :D

    Motive brake bleeder

I just order adapters directly from Motive. Takes a few days, so you gotta double check to see if you have the correct one prior to doing the job, assuming you want to use the Motive bleeder. If no adapter, just get a buddy and do it the old fashioned way.

    LED light strips

How did this work out? You gotta pic, by any chance? I always need more light when working on my 4-poster. Thanks :3gears:

Looking for a hi-qual, mechanic flex light, battery operated

Looking for a hi-quality, mechanic flex light, battery operated with magnetic base. I am going just nuts trying to find a decent light that I can position into all the awkward spaces on my vehicles, to shine some light on those darkest of areas. I have assorted lights, but they invariably keep...

    Rotisserie?

My neighbor is doing same type of restoration work. About 2 years ago he purchased brand new rotisserie for ~$1,000, which included free delivery. It is a terrific piece of kit for working on a car. My neighbor plans to sell his after he's done, and he's fairly sure he can get most (or all) of...

Please recommend a DO-IT-ALL tool for TPMS

Oh, I'm glad Daveyclimber did a little hijacking, haha. :) I actually have the same question/concern about changing pressure threshold. If I bought the Autel TS508 ($279 at Amazon), would I be able to reprogram my 2010 Ford Mustang GT? I prefer to run lower (~26psi) tire pressure because the...

Please recommend a DO-IT-ALL tool for TPMS

Thanks!! Can you (or anyone else) explain (or point me to an explanation) of the sensors? Are they proprietary? Do all Autel sensors work in all vehicles? Can you mix & match sensors on a vehicle? I need an education on sensors. Yeah, see, this "except for Chevy" is exactly what I DON'T want...

Please recommend a DO-IT-ALL tool for TPMS

I am going crazy with TPMS issues on multiple vehicles, and want a diagnostic/service tool that will work on virtually any TPMS system. Plus I want it to be as user friendly as possible, so I don't have to read through page after page of arcane instructions to get to the commands and codes that...
