Jack stands: what happened to these?

I'd keep them around for holding pipe, etc. up, as work stands, but not anything I'm going under.

Who is dumb enough to scrap an anvil?????

With 4 kids, I don't "need" my testicles anymore, that doesn't mean I'm giving them away.

Odds and ends to get from junkyard for "tools"

Windshield wiper, power window, power seat motors or actuators can come in handy.

    GTA, Ontario Hot Deals?

The track for the lift is just a long flexible piece, they're only held with a clamp at the top which loosens and slides down letting the track sag. Pull the track back up where it's supposed to be and tack it in place and it'll work as well as is possible for a General International.

    Round Point Shovels?

    I'm liking the Troy-Bilt shovels.

    Redneck Urinal Plumbing

I just bought some used nut/bolt bins and hardware from a guy who was going out of business. Had a urinal mounted on the wall with a pipe dumping outside, hole big enough that you could see the end of the pipe outside. All his nuts and bolts mounted on the wall above the urinal. No running water...

Noooo...wife found out about tool rental!

Might just be cheaper to rent a "wife" for the night every now and then.

Storm damage - How to remove trees

Depends what you're comfortable with. I'd go up on the roof to the left and start carefully cutting part way through every foot so the tops droop down to the ground, then when you can reach from the ground start cutting your way back from the top of each tree to the peak of the roof. Talk to the...

How do you store your tie-downs and ratchets?

Didn't read through to see if anyone mentioned this but these guys http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/index.htm/Plumbing-Electrical/Electrical/Extension-Cords/Lamps-Reels/Cord-Reels/Orange-Extension-Cord-Holder/_/N-ntjxf/No-96/R-I3628970?Num=0 are just the right size to wrap 2" straps around.

    Unique (?) work bench

I'd look at putting some wiring or maybe fuel line reels in there and feed them out but not at that price.

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Slide a chunk of bicycle inner tube over the connectors, fold the ends around the wire and heat shrink the ends. Or just tape them

Build questions: Heated floor in -40F to 100F climate?

Was that including a heat source? If not, it's robbery. I did my basement with 2" exterior door cutouts for insulation, cost me $1900 for 2200 sf for everything except the outdoor wood furnace that feeds it.

Help! Advice for my sad, sorry garage *Pics!*

There isn't much chance that was done with a building permit. If he contacts the city I would say there's a very good chance in Ontario that he'd have to tear it down and not be able to rebuild. The way insurance companies are stepping up their inspections here I'd be surprised if anybody would...

Need a present idea for a Carpenter

I'd just buy him the wood. Let him figure out what he wants to make with it.

Ever loan a tool and forget who to?

Had a handy little air pig that a neighbour borrowed, kinda remembered it in the back of my mind but I wasn't looking for it.... about 6 months later I watched it sell for $20 at his auction.

    Source for cheap screw jacks?

Find some used jackall jacks and make some sturdy platforms/stands to put underneath them. If the ceilings are low you could put an upright of some kind on either side of the jackall running from floor to ceiling and then adjust the height of the jack within the uprights for different height...

Go with the blue one. It brings out the blue in your eyes and matches your outfit MUCH better.

    Timberline chainsaw sharpener review

Been cutting for a living (in the winter anyway) for 25 years now, about 3 years ago I saw one of these http://www.husqvarna.com/us/accessories/product-accessories/filing-equipment/sharp-force-file-guide/ for the first time and tried one. Made by Pferd, they also sell it under their own name but...

Ideas for a Curtain Type shop divider

I would suggest two tarps hanging from the ceiling, overlapping slightly, with some light tubing fixed across the bottom of each tarp so you can roll each one up to the ceiling with a handle like truck tarps. Hooks at each end of each tarp to hold them to the ceiling.
