do other techs wax their tool boxes?

Only time mine get polished in any way is when I get blood on them, then I rub it into the finish as my sacrifice to mollify the tool gods.....

    Working in the cold?

It definitely takes a lot more energy to get things done when you're using so much to stay warm, plus when I'm in deep snow in the woods felling trees or dragging chains and chokers to the logs it gets tiring too. Once it gets down around -30 or so I end up eating the equivalent of 4-5 meals a...

If you have a tractor wrecking yard... a heavy adjustable toplink from a 3 pt hitch would do very nicely for threading.

I just use liquid paper "pens" to write on the drawer. Looks as good or bad as my penmanship and stands out nicely.

    Work bench help

Slope it down from the wall so it's level with the rest of the bench at the front, use it as a drafting/reading area on the bench where you can put your open manuals, blueprints, wild-*** guess back of napkin drawings, whatever while you're working?

    What's your workbench look like?

Not entirely done yet but I'm using it. Going to put about a 3' length of 3/8 plate on the end with the blacksmith vise on it and plane the surfaces down so it's flush with the other end. Also have to fasten the leg on the vise and tidy things up a bit on the ends. Anvil will be moving onto a...

    Why short 3/4 breaker bars?

In my Chinese 3/4 set the long extension slides over the short breaker to take it out to about 30". Works good. I've used a 90hp loader tractor as a cheater on the end with no problems

What screw to use for securing plywood to shop wall?

FYI good Canadians know the square drive bits as "Robertson", and all is well in the world

What screw to use for securing plywood to shop wall?

Mark the wires/pipes before you screw. You have some pretty substantial plywood so the more secure it is, you can fasten a lot to it later without worrying as much about hitting studs. I'd glue it too but you want to remove it if you need to

What screw to use for securing plywood to shop wall?

Are you going to paint it? I'd just use 2.5"-3" deck screws.

How long has it been there? If it's more than about 10 years, hit it with a sledgehammer and it might just break right off (rusted out at the bottom)
