Plan your heating system fully before you pour the floor. In particular, the condensate drain! I wasn't sure what type of boiler/WH I was going to use, even though I planned for the in-floor heat. Ran all the floor heat piping, but didn't think to include a condensate drain. Irritating...

This happens every couple months during the winter in our shop due to various exhaust fans running. We have to walk around and add some water in the drains (there's a few dozen of them), then the funk goes away. Very nasty smell indeed!

Thank you Polarisxcho- I have the exact same problem on my livingroom ceiling as the OP does, due to a leaky roof. Roof is now new, but ceiling is still to be fixed. I appreciate your advice!

You nailed it. They are still rare and valuable, but when properly restored, most will be considered 'rebodied' which hurts value a bunch compared to one with original panels etc. The Maserati will also bring good money.

Excellent info and great first post. Thanks for that and welcome. I find your numbers are pretty much bang on in this area. My 40x50x12.5 with steel inside and out, radiant floor, Veissmann boiler, great lighting etc was all done at just under $70K Canadian. D

Really? We've got bluejays and squirrels galore here. They don't seem to fight much although the Jays are loudmouths.

Squirrels.. the damn things are stripping the bark of some of my trees. They must be using the bark for nest lining.

Oh you luckydog! you were at the Brooklands Museum... I got to sit in that Napier Railton last year at the concours show in Windsor. Gave me goosebumps when they fired that machine up!!! Pure awesomeness..

-is your material clean? -is the metal warping while you're heating, and opening up the joint? -tiny bit of filler should get your puddle flowing

don't forget to add a drain for boiler condensate. don't ask me how I know...
