floor is done. I did a power trowel finish in the garage and a brush finish on the porch. Friday looks like the right weather to put on the Chemtec ONE.

looks like the builder put down the vapor barrier, form walls, and wire mesh for the floor pour. :) I'll have more pics to post tomorrow.

Well, all I know is my experience and Jim wrote back email on memorial day weekend and gave me his cell phone number. Looks like the builder got everything ready to pour tomorrow, so maybe monday I'll be applying chemtec.

    garage build

with my 2 year old running around I think I'm going to cap all the rebar like that! This is like a giant sandbox to him. The good news is that I've hardly paid him anything so far. I'll pay him for the concrete work once the floor is done. I have a bunch of stuff to do once he's done, or even...

    garage build

I'm still trying to come up with a cool name for my garage. I restore old VWs, have a Crossfire and various other toys. Either some German name or something evil sounding. A long term plan for the garage is to also use it as a winery/meadery. I want to have a "hobby winery" eventually. Right now...

    Chemtec One

the porosity is greatly reduced, but it still exists. I believe that any sealer will work. But then again, all I know is based on a 10 minute conversation with them and reading their site. on their contact info, Jim Sist is their USA contact. He was quite helpful. My garage is coming along...

    Chemtec One

I just ordered 10 gallons of chemtec ONE. Very helpful on the phone. Even gave me his cellphone number in case I have a question while applying it. As to the "weekly maintenance" he said that is really for high traffic areas. My garage will not need that. a caveat will all of these densifiers...

    Chemtec One

good catch, Will. I checked the maintenance for chemtec one. They have a "weekly maintenance" section, but also state that "you can use any portion you wish that fits your specific needs". Meaning that you don't have to do their recommended weekly maintenance. I'll ask about it when I talk to them.

    Chemtec One

I contacted them and they got right back to me already. It is $50 for 5 gallons of it, plus freight shipping due to weight. For me that amounts to approx $65 more. 5 gallons covers around 1000 sq ft. This is a seriously inexpensive solution.

    Chemtec One

That looks like something I would want to use. I've been debating all kinds of options for my garage floor, which has not yet been poured. epoxy is out. racedeck and whatnot are out. I am down to a concrete sealer, but I like what their website says about it. It sounds like a better product than...

    Automotive Scan Tool

I have a kiwi wifi OBD code reader that sends wireless data to my iPod touch (or iphone or ipad). You can attach it to your dashboard and it will track performance based on both the OBD and it's own accelerometers. http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/ If you're looking for cheap, I have...

hello from cow country! (upstate NY)

I thought about something like racedeck, but this will largely be a working garage with only a small area for show (Crossfire). Maybe a partial racedeck or similar. I've been reading a lot in the flooring section. Seems like all my questions are already answered there! For the chains, even my...

hello from cow country! (upstate NY)

thanks! I did forget to mention - 10' ceilings and attic trusses. Lifts are not in the plans for now due to budget. The wife and I have lifted and carried bug bodies and engines with just the 2 of us. :) 2 garage doors with office space. In the back of my mind, I'm also setting it up so that...

hello from cow country! (upstate NY)

great forum here. lots of info! I'm in the midst of building a second garage to house a work area and my toys. As of yesterday I'm this far along: I restore old VWs, have a Chrysler Crossfire and I'm buying a tractor this coming weekend, so I need some ROOM. :D The final straw that pushed...
