Modular socket organizers (Toolbox Widget and...)

I've tried a lot of things over the years but personally I think I've settled on the earnst twist lock rails. I don't have a monster roll cart so it's pretty often that I just grab the rails for what I need for a particular job and toss them in my small roll cart. Had the vim mag rails and...

    Brake line tools needed

That Ford could be bubble flare or double flare, could be one of each of the same tube. Most of the cheap flaring tools will work you just need to shape it, don't run them tight. I have the mastercool hydraulic flaring set and it's the best by far.

Who made this old axe?...in 1867????

Reviving an older thread only because I came across an Underhill carpenter hatchet today at local flea market. I'm not sure about the handle though, searching does not bring anything up for that. Definitely not as old as the hatchet. Seems the Underhill was an entire family spanning some...

Quality 12 point socket set sae

Flea market or Facebook marketplace looks for some older craftsman sets. Many of my 12 sets are just that.

    OBD2 breakout box

It's just an interface that allows you to tap into the communication lines. It can serve a couple purposes. Usually so you can hook an oscilloscope to observe, if you have a short or a module doing some wire things you will see it that way. When chasing shorts I can disconnect the network and...

    OBD2 breakout box

That's frustrating to hear. I've seen a few of these in the wild, I've had mine for quite a while now. It was my workhorse while I was doing mobile work.

    OBD2 breakout box

https://www.amazon.com/OTKEFDI-Detector-Breakout-Data-Signal/dp/B07MLVFNJQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I ran this one for a long time and it did everything I needed. Basic. I upgraded to the Aeswave one, and then eventually ended up with the godiag when I ordered a cloning tool. The godiag has a...

    SnapOn WB260B wheel balancer

I have the smaller brother to that one and it works well. I usually ditch the soft face cones and just use the hard metal cones into the center hole of the rim from the outside. Once I started doing it that way my balances came out more consistent. Mine also doesn't enjoy stick on weight's in...

Another "What are these in this kit???"

Bolt extractor, drill the proper size hole, tap splined shaft into hole and use nut to spin it out. Work good if fastener isn't too stuck. They don't expand the bolt like the tapered extractors do.

    What Hammer?

This has been my latest form factor for my evolving grab bag. Installing fixtures, small diag, ( there's a multimeter in there somewhere), I've done carb cleanings and installed trim out of this. It rides for pretty much any job, even when I grab one of the other larger kits I've assembled. I...

    Milwaukee multimeter alligator clip leads?

Yeah banana jacks are pretty universal. There's a few different sets out there. Aeswave is a fantastic place to purchase from. Pomona has a nice kit with silicone leads clips probes back probes and piercing probes.

Destroyed Snap On Dead Blow Hammers - Warranty or am I S.O.L.?

I keep seeing love for those snap on hammers and think about buying some. Then threads like this appear and I decide not to. I have plenty of wooden handled ones, anti vibes and Wilton hammers to keep me happy I suppose.

    Good and proper C clamps

Reviving an old thread. I just picked up an entire lot of 50 C clamps. Nearly all USA from the before times. Williams, Bessey, Wilton, Jorgeson, Craftsman and others. Ill never have to buy a clamp again. In the lot was about a dozen of the clamps labeled SRI- India. They appear to be rugged...

    Slide hammer parts

I acquired a couple slide hammers, forget the weight, but the shaft is a 1/2" fine thread. Less common than the usual 5/8". Problem is I have no attachment for them to make them useful. Any search just brings up entire sets, or pieces in other sizes. Anyone know of where I could find adapters...

Parasitic draw test with Fluke 87V. What am I doing wrong?

I've done it with internal ports before, but prefer using current clamp. Some are sensitive enough for parasitic draw, can wake up and shut down the vehicle to solve intermittent draws. A shunt resistor is also a really good way to get a reading without getting you meter involved in the circuit.

    Reflashing tools

Gm module flashing is pretty basic as far as programming modules goes. There isn't any programs like forscan that I'm aware of, gm programming doesn't do a **** and blow like Ford programming. Gm generally plays well with most scan tools anyways. You'll need a J2534 device, laptop and...

Snap on torque angle work backwards?

180 is pretty easy to count with or without a torque angle gauge. Those bolts will be completely loose by the end of that second backing off.

    Unpopular Opinion - Tool Storage

For my home repair and remodeling tools I used to just keep a bucket organizer. But a couple times left in the rain changed how I felt about it. I have a packout for all my carpentry hand tools and one for any mobile mechanic jobs. I build a couple dividers that really made this work much...

Replacement 12v test light for OTC 3633

I bought up a bunch of tool aid 27000. They have been pretty reliable to me over the years, minus me losing them. 250mA draw and pretty short money to buy.
