Is this enough area for cement truck to maneuver?

Thanks Maxx, that was exactly the kind of detail I was interested in. Now I'm definitely going to have some extra chutes and I'll try to ask around for the "boot". Thanks also for the extra considerations. My house is 1920's so the ground has had decades to settle in. I do have an overhead...

Is this enough area for cement truck to maneuver?

Funny thing is I hadn't seen a front discharge truck till I moved to Michigan. Prior to that I lived in HI and WA and there I have only seen rear discharge. The front discharges are all anyone has around here, they actually aren't that big, I know the truck in the picture looks huge but when...

Is this enough area for cement truck to maneuver?

Thanks for the reply, I don't think the truck would be able to make a full turn behind the garage either but I was wondering if there was enough area maneuver a bit to fulling swing the chute left and "reach down" into the hole. Otherwise my pour day just got a whole lot harder. Best.

What's your latest garage related injury?

Crushed my finger in some concrete forms last Monday, I'll be growing a new fingernail here in a bit. If you are interested here is the photo

Is this enough area for cement truck to maneuver?

Sorry for my ignorance, I don't work with concrete and have little experience. I'm pouring a new footing to extend my garage, does anyone know if the truck pictured will be able to turn around and chute the concrete directly into my footing forms? The sales guy at the ready mix plant told...

    Another Block Wall Fill Question

I have searched older posts on this forum it appears that standard practices for core filling your block wall foundation differ around the country. Does anyone know what standard practices are for core-filling block walls in SE Michigan? Here are my specs: Small 8ftx11ft addition. 10 rows of...

To step or not to step... That is my question...

Hmm.. I suppose if I was doin a lot of washin of cars an stuff I would want some kind of protection for my tools, maybe even a separate room but I suppose you already know that and have thought this through more so than me. I guess I still wouldn't put in a permanent concrete step, jus seems...

To step or not to step... That is my question...

nperkins, Do you do some kind of work where there's chance of large spillage all the time? If it were me I would not put in a step, you never know in the future how things may change and you might end up using this building differently, simply moving items in an out of that area will require...

    1929 garage restoration / insulation

AVK, welcome to the forum! I'm assuming you are in Michigan? I'm not an insulation expert but I once watched Tom Silva from this old house talk about this issue. Vapor barriers like a ploy should be installed on the "warm" side of the insulation, but here in MI that would depend on the...

Week old first time home buyer with a concrete issue. [Video]

Welcome to forum WarMace, From the looks of it, it's a big job. Where are you located? What's the frost level at? Is this garage attached? I think you would need to chip out all the bad concrete, inspect the foundation if there is one and address the "frost heave" issue. Then regrade in...

What type of equipment does not belong in the Garage?

HA:) Serious though, now I need to clean out a space in my attic for xmas stuff. Enough time spent here and someday I'll be squared away and good to go. Currently my 20x16 "garage" is crumbling, I'm planning on dismantling it but reusing the wood to build a shed to house all such non garage...

What type of equipment does not belong in the Garage?

Hi guys, I've lurked here for a while and one of the things I'm learning from the forum is there are certain tools and equipment not "suitable" to be in the garage. I confess I was one of those people living in the dark about the wheel barrel not belonging in the garage, but I'm glad that the...

    Uses for cedar decking scraps

There's a guy at our local farmer's market who sells these small kid size Adirondak chairs. We don't even have kids and I have to pry my wife away from buying one of them every time. She thinks they are the "cutest thing ever". -madstat

    Skunk and Groundhog's Mansion

Ted, I actually thought of the "Lapidated" garage when I was posting this, I love what you did and the story of your place being handed down through the family. I have certainly given this a lot of head scratching, while I'm not sure it would be an 8th of the work or 30th the cost, I could do a...

    Insurance help???

I used to work for a P&C insurance carrier. I would call an "independent" insurance agent (not a captured agent like state farm or all state that only sell one carrier) but an independent who can quote you for multiple different carriers, these types of agents are getting rarer but IMO they are...

    Skunk and Groundhog's Mansion

I know what you mean, I've mulled over all kinds of crazy ways to save her but I just couldn't come up with a viable one. The new one will be roughly the same size, just a few feet deeper to accommodate most cars and It will match the period style of our house. --Bobby

    Skunk and Groundhog's Mansion

I thought I might share with the GJ my garage (more like shed) that I inherited when my wife and I bought our house. It once was a single bay 1920's structure but sometime later the left lean-to was added. Despite my mom's pleading to save one of our home's "orginal structures" I can't see...
