    Welder for beginner

I've had the Hobart 140. And currently have the 210 MVP. If you have 220v in the garage it will definitely be worth the being able to weld the thicker metal. Whatever you end up buying I recommend replacing the ground clamp. The manufacturer usually puts a lower quality ground clamp to save...

Modifications to the HF 12 ton and 20 ton Shop Press

Sure. An extension spring on an old single slab garage door snapped when I was trying to adjust the linkage so the door would open all the way. Now I don't trust any extension or torsion springs. I now will eather encase them in something or use a cable ran through the center. Torsion springs...

    Garage fire extinguishers

I have 2 20# Badger abc extinguishers. On mounted to the wall in my welding and grinding area. The other one is on the workbench. Also I have a 2.5 gallon pressured water extinguisher at the door from the garage to the house. If that doesn't work I keep the insurance paid up.

    Who lives in their garage...literally?

Sounds like a great idea to me. Heck if you live in it for say 6-8 years you could possibly save enough to pay cash to have the house built and NO mortgage. Having no mortgage has opened up so many doors for my wife and I we plan on retiring early now.

    Ideas for workbench top ?

It sounds like we have similar tasks we use our workbenches for. I'm using some 5/8" steel plate 12' x 30" deep. As far as a tough inexpensive coating I'm using truck bed coating that I put on with a roller. So far it's held up really well. I also have some spray cans of it for touch up. I have...
