    4 Post Lift Lighting

I just use those plain ole $5 cheap clamp on lamp with the shiny silver reflector with a cfl in it. Clamp it on almost anything underneath and aim it where you need it. Like these only the cheaper ones...

Lighting the outside pad of my shop

Task lighting is generally easier for working on stuff. I just have regular CFL floodlight bulbs in motion lights. They take a bit to warm up in the real cold, but they are the most efficient option I think. Install multiple floods on switches and you should get plenty of light. Along with local...

    OK, DirecTv coax cableing question?

Just an FYI, Cat5e or Cat6 can be used to carry almost any signal with simple cheap baluns/adaptors. So 2 cat6(recommended) can run an hdmi signal a couple hundred feet with no degradation issues, as reported. So in this case for example an hdmi splitter can be used along with hdmi to cat6...

    Phone jack in garage

Cat5e is the standard for phone line now. With the current technology of dsl and ATT Uverse etc running through it, and price taken into account it only makes sense. The added advantage is ability to rewire as data. I wouldn't use any less. I haven't run across an electrician etc in the last 10...

    Property Tax Complaint

I did also, they raised my assessment 13k. I sent a dispute letter so they sent out an inspector. He walked through the house then wrote up a report that he sent to me saying the assessment would stay the same as previous year. If I wanted to dispute his report it would go before some kind of...

    pour sat.

You can contact your state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. They have a legal staff that investigates all types of consumer issues. They were able to assist me in getting some negotiations with an out of state company that wouldn't respond. They then informed me that...

20 Amp Circuit Showing 15 Amps on Meter?

All I'm gonna throw in here is for all the people that say "I'm the only one that uses it". What happens when you have a contractor at your house, you die and someone buys your house? Or something similar. Power is one thing you don't want to take a chance with. It's worth it to just do it...

    Wood Ripping Advice

I wouldn't recommend trying to cut from both sides. The sharp high tooth carbide blade should work fine. The other option you have is do a rough cut 1/8" longer than needed then use a router with a straight bit and a straight edge for the final cut taking off the last 1/8th. I have never had...

    Can I Paint Foam Insulation?

That's a good idea, the tyvek could be tacked up back side out so its all white. Its a lil pricey at $110/roll. But it would be easy. I thought that insulation was old fiberglass, but if it's in fact foam it can be painted. I have seen it done. If there's a Menards near you they should carry...

    Can I Paint Foam Insulation?

    Dr. Infrared heater

I think people have used 2 of them comfortably for your size. Or 1, but it takes a while. Check your local HVAC shops they might have an older gas furnace to sell you. I got mine for $100.

Jacking Points on a Unibody Car

Generally speaking the pinch welds in the front inline with the firewall which has vertical support, in the rear normally just in front of the rear tires or the suspension\Control Arms. But manuals will give the best indication of jacking points.

Couple of shipping containers spread apart and a truss roof built over em. Add more concrete and enclose as time and money permit.

CH 3/8" Air Ratchet at Home Depot

I recently got an Aircat mini 3\8" ratchet for like $80 or something. It's quieter and so much better than any other air ratchet I have seen or used. I actually grab it and use it rather than plug my ears before touching one. It's more than $8, but it's fun to use cuz of the noise level.

Getting wireless signal to detached garage

Well it is a thread hijack, but it's essentially the same issue. You can also search and find multiple threads on this issue. As mentioned previously you can use a range extender or additional access point. Sometimes relocating the router fixes signal issues. Some routers can be used as an...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

As previously mentioned, you can take a small part to a paint store and they can custom mix a match, it will have to be rolled or brushed on. A spray can match is available at many paint stores, but it's quite expensive, I think like $50\ 12 oz can. I used a sample sprayed with the Atlas Touch...

Where and how do you store your engine hoist?

I can picture some kind of electric hoist lift to the ceiling like the elevator or trailer lifts seen elsewhere here. Or maybe if you have a 2 post lift, a hoist mounted on top of post that lifts the engine hoist up sliding on some kind of sled with roller blade wheels that keeps it hugging the...
