Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

This is another vintage clamp seeing use this summer. The name looks to be Stearns. The wing was welded in place long before it came into my possession and I was able to replace the missing pad on the forcing screw.

Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

I picked up this Wetzler beam clamp at a garage sale in CT about 20 years ago. It already had the damaged wing but its a great tool. It is currently in use as I build my deck.

    2021 Garage Sale Thread

Does that have a 3.8 or the 3.5 Shortstar? I had a 2000 Intrigue with the 3.5 from New to 195K. Roomy, nice ride. Made expected repairs to keep it going, nothing crazy. Enjoy!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I bought a HF mixer for my deck project this summer. Worked fine and when I'm done I'll probably sell it. Cheaper and easier than repeat rentals.

    Show your vintage Bridgeport tools!

That is certainly interesting! Thanks for digging that up. You're correct both the Tom-A-Hawk and the Bonner opener were in the same drawer and we unearthed them during a project.

    Show your vintage Bridgeport tools!

I hadn't even noticed the thru shank difference between the examples! The vintage ad that Fourcycle posted was 1930 so it must pre-date that. Theres no patent number on mine, just the patent applied for statement. That may be a clue as to its age.

    C.E. Bonner Box Hammer

Pulled this guy out of a drawer a few days ago. Not much info on C.E. Bonner Mfg and no mention I found of this piece. I can't make out the second line under the makers name.

    Show your vintage Bridgeport tools!

Here's my Tom-A-Hawk. Lacks the earlier trademark on Lugz's example but as far as age, my 87 year old dad remembers his dad referring to that as the "box hammer" when he was a kid. Looks like it saw some use on a painting project or two.

How do you like the performance of the LEDs? I installed a pair of LED headlights last year and had similar fitment issues but I'm happy being able to see in the dark.

    Vintage tape measures

I posted a 6ft "Mechanics Pal" upthread. That example is made in USA and has the remnants of red paint on the release button.

    Vintage Greenlee Auger

    Vintage Greenlee Auger

Hmmmm, let me make a few adjustments.... There's no lead-in screw on the tip, I'd be surprised if this was intended for wood.

Anyone collect vintage Taps and dies?

I put this Rigid #30A to use recently. Its a pretty nice, compact set up. Bonus pic of the vintage 3- wheel pipe cutter in use that day.

    Vintage Greenlee Auger

Needed to do some digging last week and dug out this Greenlee #2 hand auger. There doesn't appear to be a "show us your vintage Greenlee Tools" thread. If I'm correct, I'll rename the thread and make one.

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Lugz-My guess on that 6 pt crow foot is that it was part of an engine or equipment repair kit. The torque range rather than a maximum value for the tool is the clue for me. Sent from my SM-G960U using The Garage Journal mobile app

I was digging in the garage and came across these two. The Phillips 66 one has an unusually large reflector. Sent from my SM-G960U using The Garage Journal mobile app
