    Genuine Mechanix gloves or generic?

Harbor freight gloves for me. I've tried a couple of different kinds of Mechanix, and the craftsman gloves, and the harbor freight last just as long at 1/3 the price. The fingers also seem to hold up longer than the craftsman gloves.

    Dammit! Termites!!! Suggestions wanted

Termidor is Fipronil imidacloprid is another popular one, can't remember which Dog brand that translates to. The thing to understand, is that many seemingly different pesticides are the same chemical, with just different concentrations and preparations. -Yes very important to understand what...

    Dammit! Termites!!! Suggestions wanted

Save your money from an exterminator, and buy some products from an online pest control company. IN many cases they are the same chemicals, but you just can't get them locally: for example: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/ Just do some research online, and you'll find the needed regiment...

The "Test House"... a 3 Stall Garage in Minnesota

I bought some really nice Simonton windows that have a strengthened glass package. The screens and glass are warranted against breakage for 10 years. If you haven't bought the windows yet, might want to inquire with where your buying.

The "Test House"... a 3 Stall Garage in Minnesota

You may want to rethink the size of your windows as well. Those look like pretty small openings. With today's energy efficient windows the sashes/frames are much bigger than older windows. You may end up with a lot of sash/frame, and very little window. The look would be even more exaggerated...

    Trench digging questions

This is one of those situations where you shouldn't buy what you can afford, rather, buy what is actually needed for the job. If you can't afford what is needed, what till you can. The outcome will be much better. You might also call around to landscapers and see what they would charge to dig...

    Trench digging questions

With that much trenching I would get a ride on unit. I rented a big walk behind (drive wheels were also powered), and it worked well, but it was tiring moving that thing around and keeping it going where you needed it. I've got enough back problems as it is and am tall at 6 4" so I'm sure that...

    Vintage Electrical / machine equipment

I figured the speed control might be worth something? If nothing else, there's gotta be 20 lbs of copper in it. That sucker's heavy. I'll probably hang onto the start switch, and just junk the rest then.

    Vintage Electrical / machine equipment

Can anyone tell me if any of this stuff has any value? Picked up an old workbench that had at one time some sort of grinder setup on it. Not sure if any of this stuff is still useful, or if it should just go in the junk pile.

My 10x16 Workshop Shed: Scope creep, rain, an x-ray, and a bike

Shed looks great. I think If I were you i'd offer to extend your neighbors downspout. Looks like it's going to drain right under your garage.

An old work bench I restored....

Might want to seriously look into what benches of that type are going for in your area. Industrial/ primitive are the new "in" design. I've seen benches cleaned up like that going for $1k plus as decorative pieces, or kitchen buffets/ islands. Might be worth enough that don't want to beat it...

Adding hydro cooler to Dixie Chopper

You might want to put a dab of epoxy on the 2 piece feet of that plastic fan mount. I ran a couple of those style fans on S-10 w/ V8 and over time the fans would vibrate the mounts apart and fall off. I imagine the same might be true on a mower. Not sure if that can happen here. Can't remember...

    Cheap place to buy casters?

Thanks, I'll check it out on the way home. Yes, very nice for the money, these were the one's I was talking about in the original post. Too bad they don't have them with brakes though.

    Cheap place to buy casters?

Anyone have a decent place to buy casters. looking for probably 4x2's for a welding table. Need 2 to have brakes, maybe all 4. Looks like heavy duty casters run about $24 a piece on ebay, which is a bit more than I wanted to spend. Harbor freight has some nice 5x1, and 5x2's for like $6 and...

    Some Lathe Stuff

Thanks for the assist on the saw stand. I modified it a bit based on the steel I could get from the drops pile. 2x3 thick wall for the bottom (Figured the extra weight would help stability) and 1x1 for the uprights. I also just built a rectangle base for the saw to sit on, and welded tabs on...
