    concrete ceiling/floor; feasible?

There are all types of possibilities. Many clients have used precast concrete planks with a 2" poured in place concrete topping, but you need some money and a producer in your state. It's an ultimate and durable solution. Poured in place reinforced slabs work too, with or without steel beams...

Raising Ceiling Joists / Collar Ties

Be careful with that. Bar joists are iffy when it comes to concentrated loads. Beams are a safer bet.

My brother made his own motorcycle fuel tank. He said it was the last time he would ever do that! Similar situation?

Raising Ceiling Joists / Collar Ties

You don't want to trust what you might read in an internet "link" or a picture that you see in a book without knowing the full theoretical basis and having the numerical justification. I have seen many houses with the walls pushed out in a lifetime practice. The best advice is hire a local...

    "Another" insulation question, help please

Be sure to provide venting between the roof deck and the insulation otherwise you'll be replacing rotted deck due to condensation. You want air flow in your roof system if the insulation is under the roof as opposed to outside like flat roofed buildings with builtup roofing. The facing, or...

Raising Ceiling Joists / Collar Ties

With any rafter system, you need your ties right at the base or you need a ridge beam (not a ridge board). Raised ties are an old carpenter's tale that does not work; it would create tremendous bending in the rafters by the time it started to work. Back to the rafters, there is a simplistic...

Chads toolbox VS Amazon for Wiha/Knipex

I should clarify that out of a dozen things only one odd item had to be ordered at Chads; all of the remainder were stocked. When I wrote "hunt around beforehand" I meant before placing your order with Chad, not to buy helter skelter. Find the best price and present it to him if he is your...

Chads toolbox VS Amazon for Wiha/Knipex

He definitely will adjust his prices down to match anything you find and show him, whether you are buying or not. Take a little time and hunt around the Internet beforehand. My order of a few weeks ago, one item was adjusted before ordering and one during. Amazon had some of the more popular...

No Bull, I do not have a Wright ratchet, or I would have rendered an opinion to the fellow. He seems to be comfortable with his feedback now, so I guess that's all that needs be said.

    got my wright 3430 today

Bull, No offense to anyone, but the fellow did end his post asking if anyone else noticed the looseness. That is implying concern and asking for other's replies on that statement. Others seem to have been more helpful since. Good feedback HiBall.

Am I missing something here? No one has answered his concern about the ratchet, including the manufacturer's rep?

What brand ratching combo wrench do you like?

For those who like the Armstrong, their catalog doesn't seem to show the size stamping as very easy to read (on the metrics). Are the numbers small, not thicklined? Hard to read? Also, I've been told by a warehouser that both Armstrong and Craftsman are manufactured in the same plant. That...

Thanks. Common sense would tend to say that longer is better except in a tight space.

What brand ratching combo wrench do you like?

Thanks for the opinions guys. As you might have figured, and no offensive to people driven by economical driven choices, I've arrived at the age that country of origin and quality are important. I've lived long enough to regret too many imported purchases. Buy the best and only cry once.
