How do you organize your portable or hand carry toolbox?

Pouches. They're cheap, keep stuff organized and best of all..they're lightweight. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using The Garage Journal mobile app

PB Swiss: Best time & place to buy?

I've ordered from werk10 a few times, and it was trouble free. However, the prices were much lower this time last year because the dollar was stronger than the euro. The prices aren't good at this time by far. I received my orders on average 2 weeks after I placed them. Do note that he requires...

Tried cheaping out on new tools....wound up regretting it.

A big NO on anything made by Eklind. Bondhus is about the same price but much better quality. I've broken and twisted smaller Eklind hex keys and will never use them again.

TSA Rules on Tools in Carry On

I always travel with my Fluke DMM through security (I do field service work for lasers). I've never had a problem with them including the Probe Master leads I have on them. Both are in a fabric hard case I got from Amazon. I put them in the same bin as the bare laptop. I also carry my WFMC mini...

Strange Custom Xcelite Tool - What Was It Used For?

When I was stationed in North Island back in the 90's we had a civilian tool rep from Xcelite who was responsible for stocking/replacing our worn tools we used on avionics. My understanding was that Xcelite (Cooper) tools were catered to the television, radio and electronics industry. I don't...

    Show your new tool arrivals

You can get that set on Amazon for $64 OR if you're cheap like me and already have a dozen sets of Bondhus, just get the power handle for $18.99

How important is COO to you and why?

I used to decide on tools based on this, but as things have been changing, it's more difficult to find a quality tool. I want quality over COO. I am still leary on anything made in China, or India, so I am honest in saying that I will not buy any new tool or used hand tool from those countries...

Best 1/4" Bit Ratchet on Market?

To each their own. I have used my same set for 9 years around the world doing field service and it's still going strong. It's also been used to break fasteners where my 1/4" drive could not get into. I still pack other bits and a bit driver. The WFMC kit isn't an all in one solution, that's the...

Best 1/4" Bit Ratchet on Market?

I just put it away, but will grab some calipers to measure. The WFMC gets a lot of hate, and not sure why (Youtube comments, GJ comments etc). It's a great product and still one of the few remaining made in USA tools left out there. WFMC height w/ bit: 26.3mm VIM HBR4 w/bit (Zephyr ProBit)...

Best 1/4" Bit Ratchet on Market?

It's not any thicker than a standard bit ratchet, nor is it any taller. I was also curious why you stated you owned one, when you didn't know COO either. It's printed made in USA on the ratchet and set as well. https://imgur.com/a/qDpfmNl

Best 1/4" Bit Ratchet on Market?

No that is not correct. The height of the ratchet with a bit inserted is no higher than my VIM bit ratchet with a bit installed. I own a WFMC bit ratchet set and have used it exclusively for low profile and regular use. It is also USA made and and has ~33Ft lbs of torque. The ratchet kit isn't...

    ChadsToolbox Review

I can't recommend them. I ordered some Wera stuff earlier this year. I opted for the economy shipping, but didn't expect for my order to sit for two weeks before they shipped it. It seemed like after I contacted them after a week of wondering why it didn't ship, they purposely let my item sit...

    Looking for a certain ratchet

Omegatec's RR40S-SP. It's a roller ratchet, but does have a knurled handle at the end. Length is 3.5" https://omegatec.com/rr40s-sp-reversible-1-4-square-drive-short-handle-roller-ratchet.aspx?gclid=cj0kcqjwpclzbrcnarisampbgf1q_ociv_vxalibs8wd8tjz-s5cr1tfzzbld1ccmdgal44spungxwwaar1bealw_wcb

    Tools of Japan

I don't believe the PB Swiss conform to DIN 5260. They are only listed as conformance to DIN ISO 8764-1. I do know about the other brands. I use PB Swiss exclusively for PH and have a set of old Vessels to use on JIS/DIN 5260.

Looking for a FULL allen key BIT set

Exactly. And also get the short/stubby version sets as well. With these two kinds of sets, you are pretty much covered trying to remove anything.

Battle of the Bits: PB Swiss vs Zephyr vs Apex

I ordered the ZBB-4 from Omegatec earlier this month. Right now the production run is behind, so I was quoted a 4 week lead time until they ship.

    Best allen (hex) key set

I have the Wera 950s in both SAE and Metric. It's much cheaper to buy the 950 PKL and not the color coded one, unless you really need color coding. Same Hex Plus technology, just without the colored heat shrink tubing. Both SAE and Metric sets can be bought together for $34.35 USD.
