Air Compressor Pump -- Oil fill?

I've got an old Eagle compressor, about 40 gallons that I gave to my SIL a year or so ago and just got back because it "keeps tripping the breaker." Well, the connecting rods were seized to the crank. I wound up getting them off with some heat and found that a finger one of the rods was...

ID new old vise please. Holland?

I'm pretty sure this is a Holland vise, but there are no markings on it other than the ones in the photos. There is the keystone with patd written on it and there is a 25 that appears to have a one running down the center of the 2 that showes up in the base and on the moving part of the vise...

ID old, rusty tool box -- longshot

I picked this up yesterday as a give away. I'm trying to figure out what it may have looked like. Its very rusty and I don't think that is worth some big restoration, but I might knock of the rust and paint it. I'm more curious as to who might have made it and when it was made. Its been...

Milton QC must have been telecommuting that day

I just got this off of Amazon. It's a Milton quick connect coupler. All of the retention balls are missing. There's only supposed to be three, but somebody managed to miss all three.

    Milwaukee Hydraulics Model 20 Jack

I picked this jack up over the weekend. It looks quite rough, but to my surprise, it pumps up. It does not have the handle so it took me some figuring as to how to get it to release. From what I've seen in my research, there is a threaded rod at the end of the handle that somehow engages a...

    Saw a Craftsman Lowes Ad

I saw an ad on Youtube yesterday telling the world that Lowes now sells Craftsman hand tools. It was a nostalgia type ad of a guy and his Craftsman tools and his Craftsman tool box with the crown logo. He then drives to Lowes in his old pickup and the announcer tells us that Lowes sells...

Waterjet cutting Chinese anvil in half

This looks like a HF anvil, but it might be some other seller's. Check it out at about 2:42 once they've got it cut in half.

HF Braun light -- how well does yours work?

I've only gone through one charge on my light and got less than an hour at the bright setting. Now it just cuts out after a few seconds. I presume that means it's out of juice, but my other LED lights get dim when the battery is dying. Wondering what is normal for the lights.

    Shocked by Welder

Anyone ever been shocked by a stick welder? I know that electricity will take the easiest path to ground, but I've held the thing I was welding and not been shocked. What would happen if you were standing on your ground and then held the rod holder?

    Craftsman 506.5188 Vise

I picked up this Columbian made Craftsman vise for $25 the other day from a local pawn shop. Jaws are perfect, paint is pretty darn good. It saw very little use. Its got 4" jaws with a 6" opening, which was an improvement over my Record vise. I'm guessing its early 70s, but does anyone know...

    Compressor Reed Valve Question

This is on my 60 gallon CH compressor. The intake plastic was warped and was doing little or no filtering, so I added on one of those round filters with the paper element. It has a small pipe for the intake (and leaks around circumference of the metal cover, but I figure its still filtering...

    Air compressor pressure switch

I picked up a 230v 5hp 15a 60 gallon air compressor. I think the pressure switch is going since it doesn't seem to kick in at the right kick in pressure. I thought I'd just replace it since there appears to be a ton of cheap switches on the market. Digging a little deeper though, I see there...

    Astro Pneumatic Nano 1828

I bought one of these after watching Eric O at South Main Auto take off just about any fastener with this gun. I'v I'm running 120 psi at the compressor with 3/8" lines and coupling and I can't remove a 100 lb ft torqued lug nut. Is this thing defective? It is brand new. I'm getting less...

    Which Dewalt 20v Impact?

I got a 20v Dewalt drill, a couple of batteries and a charger for my birthday. I'd like to take advantage of having the batteries and charger and pick up an impact that fits the batteries. I want a 3/8" or 1/2" gun. I see that there is a DCF880B for about $130, but from what I've read in the...

Heating a bolt with Oxy Acetylene torch

I don't have a huge need for heating bolts as I'm no longer in the rust belt, but which kind of tip should I be using when I do? I think my current tip is a #2. Should I go up to a #4 or #6 for the heating?
