    Wall Thimbles?

Rusty, Like junkman said, the pipe should be angled down so that any moisture that condenses in the pipe can drain out. Did you want to fill the area [B][I]between[I][B] the thimble and pipe? That should not be done. That area acts like an air gap, with the air being a very good insulator. You...

I have the Eastwood unit also. Works okay. If you can get it cheaper than Eastwood, go for it. Steve

    beginner welder?

Like everyone else says, go for the formal training. I took a semester of basic welding last year at the local Vo-Tech and came away with a good understanding of not only welding basics, but it also helped me decide what type of welder to buy. I just purchased a Millermatic 175 Mig machine. Just...

    Propane Radiant Heater Install Questions

I also installed a ReverberRay heater in my shop last year and am very satisfied with it. I used 1/2" black pipe from the flex connection at the heater out to the propane tank. I don't believe you can have (or would want) any piping joints that are in the walls. In my area, the propane company...

    Questions about prep for epoxy

Why not neutralize the acid where it sits? I did this when I etched my floor. In fact, it was even in called out in the directions with my Epoxy-Coat. Use baking soda, (get LOTS of it, it's cheap), and once the acid stops working and you are ready to rinse, sprinkle the baking soda on the floor...

Up here in the northeast my pole building (Morton Building) complete, turn key, with insulation, heat, electrical service, & concrete floor cost about $35 square foot. Being down south, you may be able to save considerably on the insulation and heating requirements.... Hope this helps, Steve

    Sealing expansion joints

Epoxy-Coat does make a joint filler...its on their "accessories" web page: http://www.epoxy-coat.com/accessories.html I don't know if it comes in colors or anything, or if it needs to be put down before the floor coating. May be worth a look.... Steve

    Epoxy-Coat curing: oily surface?

er, I had the exact same thing with my Epoxy-Coat application....after a week, it definitely had a light film on it, and also felt tacky when I walked across it. I mopped down the floor with a solution of Simple Green and rinsed...It was a lot better. Now the floor is fine, no film or...

Trying to decide on heat, any thoughts???????

Another option you did not mention would be a radiant tube heater. More expensive than the other options, but a very good way to heat. I have a ReverberRay unit in my shop and am very satisfied.. Do a search in this board for "radiant tube heater" and you'll find lots of posts regarding this...

    Epoxy-Coat Application--Lessons Learned

index, There is no clear coat required...in fact, if you go to the Epoxy Coat website, they give an explanation why clear coating is not desirable. The flakes lay flat and are more or less flush with the epoxy, not laying on top of it. It still has enough of a surface feel and "roughness" to it...

    Epoxy-Coat Application--Lessons Learned

...57, No, I didn't really have any cracks in the floor to speak of. The floor is new, and the only place I have cracks is at the end of each saw cut near the wall. These are about an inch long, and the epoxy did not completely cover over the crack...I suppose if I put it on real thick at this...

    Epoxy-Coat Application--Lessons Learned

Glad to hear that this post was useful....Thanks to all who replied. Dave, The flecks laid down flat, and more or less laid level with the paint. I didn't find any places where they landed on-edge and stayed there. I tried to keep from throwing flecks on the paint all of the way to the...

    Epoxy-Coat Application--Lessons Learned

I just put down Epoxy-Coat in my shop last week and wanted to let everyone know my experience with the product. First off, this is the product from www.epoxy-coat.com, just so there is no mis-understanding what product I'm referring to. I learned about Epoxy Coat thru this board, and decided to...

Muriatic acid washed over the driveway.

I'll be etching my concrete for EpoxyCoat very soon and had the same concerns. I did a search on neutralizing muriatic acid on Google, and found out some info. It seems you can either use (garden) lime or baking soda to neutralize the acid... check this out...

Morton coming to Give me Bid!

Marv, The finished interior including insulation and interior walls added about 25% to the job costs. The concrete truck delivered 11 yards for the floor...I put down some planking before, but I had damage, mostly due to the fact that the driveway was deteriorated anyway.... re-paving next year...

    Clean Park Garage Mats?

Tom, I'm using one in my new shop until I get my epoxy floor coating done. My son recently did a lot of work on his car, including changing out a transmission. There were plenty of spills on it, thats for sure. As mentioned, it is just a piece of heavy vinyl, and like the ad says, it is very...

Morton coming to Give me Bid!

Marv, My 24' x 32' Morton Building has been up for a year now, and I've had no problems. Morton was a pleasure to work with. Not the cheapest building you can put up, but you get what you pay for. Construction time, including interior was six days...Built by company employees, not...

    The BEST Hand Soap?

DL Hand Cleaner...now made by Permatex, and I agree that it is sometimes hard to find but its the best by far. Has Lanolin in it, doesn't dry out skin and can be used waterless. I used to find it at Home Depot once in a while, but lately I've found it at Driver F/X auto stores. Whenever I see...
