    Hitch Mounted Vise???

Mac's Tie Downs has this one. http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/product/TrailD-Vise/trail-d-vise I saw it at Off Road Expo. It's pretty slick, but spendy. Pretty HD for what it is, and it has a long throw.

Old tool ads in one place (lots of them)

Awesome. Thanks. Now for the quick printing question. Do you think the resolution would be good enough to do a nice color inkjet print of a reasonable size, like an 11X14? I'm thinking they'd look good in that size or therabouts, maybe on a matte paper so they'd look "old-timey."

Brother, you can't go wrong with these tools

I bet some of these old-school ads would look great in the garage. A good scan, print on a decent printer, put in some funky frame and voila, good cheap garage wall deco. Can a dedicated thread or sticky be made to archive some of this stuff? This way, anyone who wants to can go back and make...

    KRL1003 top wide drawer problem

I still see some room in there. Get on it.

    Stubby ratchet thread

Hasn't been an issue for me. I use it to speed up assembly of things before I break out the torque or big wrench for the final tighten (I had nice sets of Mac 6-point deep impact sockets that I kept handy on the bench with that rat that went down pretty small). Beyond that I'd switch to the...

    Stubby ratchet thread

Really? I could've swore I saw one in a recent thread in a bulk lot purchase. Not that it matters. It's still a fave, and I enjoy using it a great deal. It's just been a great, all-around go-to tool for me.

    Stubby ratchet thread

Dug out the 1/2 drive SO stubby. The model number is FK720A. Don't know what it cost new; I found it at a swap meet for around $15 if I remember right. A few pics; the last with my truck key for size reference.

    Stubby ratchet thread

Not sure what model number it is, but I have an older SO 1/2 drive stubby that I usually reach for. I like the fact that it has the ball-shaped end over the newer flared-style end. I also like the older CMan pro "tri wing" rats with the knurled spinner; very easy to spin down a nut or bolt...

Somebody must have scored on Black Friday! Show us what you got!

X2. That, and while I wouldn't turn my nose up at getting a deal, I'll be damned if I'm going to go deal with all of the knuckleheads out there on Black Friday. I even saw one family on the news that camped out for days; they brought their turkey and had their holiday dinner on the sidewalk of...

Check out this BUDGET cabinetry (all metal)

That looks great! As a twist to that idea, it'd be cool to have cabs powdercoated like that to match the toolchests.

    Tool Haul of the Week

Very nice! I see you got one of those stubby SO 1/2 drive ratchets. That's got to be one of my fave ratchets to grab for.

Good Fuel Can that DOES NOT leak...

Yes, metal. Here's where I got mine. Last time I was there, they still had some of the good cans remaining. www.expeditionexchange.com They won't ship or sell them in CA though. I had mine sent to CO and picked them up at my brother's. The surplus stuff we picked up at a place in...

Good Fuel Can that DOES NOT leak...

My vote for the NATO cans. Have to find ones made this year or older, or surplus, thanks to some stupid new laws. No Cali cans either, they're different. I've got ones made by Wedco and they don't leak. Have carried them on side and standing on the roof. On one trip they went from 282 ft...

Where to get wrench tool roll?

I have that wrench roll, tool rollup and bag; they work and have held up great despite seeing much dirt duty in the trail kit. They make good gifts too. Also bought them at Expedition Exchange. They're good guys over there. Have been going there for years.

Help - in need of a special tool

Hopefully this wont sound too dumb (and if you already passed over using a metal object and I missed it, sorry) but since you mentioned hollow punch-like object, what about a spent bullet casing? I used to use these to cut holes in gaskets. Maybe since brass is softer or more malleable, that...

    Craftsman speeder ratchet

I've always wanted one of those. Always get outbid, though. I just can't bring myself to spend a whole lot on that kind of stuff.

Best length for 1/2 breaker bar?

Not a pro by a long shot, just a guy who loves working on his 4x4s, but I find my ancient 18" flat handled plomb to be my go-to breaker bar. I have a 24c Snap-on, but sometimes it seems more flexy. Just my .02. Given that I picked up that plomb along with a shorter knurled handle proto (i...
