    The Charly Wrench

The Charly Wrench was not a success. The "Charly Wrench" came in a double open end (DOE) set and an adjustable open end wrench (3 sizes). It was made by Beverage Equipment Corporation (BEVCO Industries) in Portland, Oregon. I doubt I'll ever complete my DOE set, but I'm still looking for the...

    Chevron brand tools?

Chevron brand tools I bought this tappet wrench labeled "Chevron". It's not marked "USA" and I can't find much about the company. Looked on Alloy Artifacts and here in Garage Journal without luck. Currently on e-bay there is a Chevron 12mm black-oxide combo wrench (A-247) and a Chevron...

    What's this home forged tool?

I paid $1 for it. Now I need to figure out what it is. It has an 8-inch overall length. The **** section is roughly octagonal (about 3/4" diameter). The front looks ready to do something and is just under 1/4-inch thick.

Maker of these sockets and box?

I could not find any logo or name on the box. The sockets only had sizes imprinted (some of them). Any ideas on the manufacturer? The thrift store is asking $40. Thanks.

Santa is looking for specific a 8mm Craftsman socket for his sleigh

Its taken me almost two years to gather 2 complete USA-made Craftsman socket sets for my son and son-in-law (one each). Snap-On Date Code for this symbol

I picked up this 4-way angle wrench today (VS5214). The date code symbol doesn't match any of the symbols in my table. I'm guessing 1966 (?) but that does not agree with my table. Is there a better date code symbol reference chart out there in the wilds of the internet, or am I missing...

Thick, offset DBE w/triangle logo wrench manufacturer?

Anyone recognize this logo or the wrench manufacturer? The wrench is marked with "290B", and a triangle logo with something inside it. One end has a 7/8" opening and the other is about 1-5/32". Overall length is 9 inches. Its a thick, hefty, thing. -

    Is this a Plomb-made T-slider breaker bar?

Who made this sliding T-bar? Bought it for $1. It's 1/2" drive. It has no markings anywhere. It sure looks like the Plomb 3/8" T-slider WF-22 on Alloy Archives. (The 1/2" drive equivalent would be WF-39 - I just can't find a good photo of a WF-39). And, if Plomb made it, why would it not...

Stanley - Bell System w/non-standard screwdriver tip

Saw this in an antique store today and grabbed one quick photo. This is (in my opinion) a beautiful screwdriver. It is large (around 9" OAL) and in good shape. I might have bought it, but the price was high and I am not sure about the tip. Is this possibly a factory tip? I wish I would...

Pliers with "FORGED STEEL U.S.A." in depressed triangle

Anyone know who made these 6.5" overall length slip joint pliers? There are no marks other than "FORGED STEEL U.S.A." in the inverted, depressed triangle. The same thing is duplicated on the opposite side. (GalaxyRat also posted pliers with a similar logo in a recent thread: )...

Worst US made "crescent" wrench ever? - Canton Malleable Iron

I find mentions of the Canton Malleable Iron Company name from when it first went out of business around 1870, up until the 1970's. I bought this Canton Malleable Iron adjustable open end wrench because because I couldn't believe how bad it was. It looks and feels like it came straight from...

DOE wrench with only an "M" on it.

My wife was traveling and stopped by a second hand store. She was kind enough to check for older wrenches for me. She sent a photo of this one. It had no identification on the back side, and only a raised M on the side shown in the photo. Any idea who made this? My online search found a...

Fitchburg Tool Company – History - and Show Us Yours

I don't imagine this thread will have many posts. The only tool from this company that I have been able to find (online) is a combo square. The attached photos are from my 12-inch adjustable square. There is an interesting logo on the handle - anyone recognize it? The few other Fitchburg...

I picked up this screwdriver up today. It is a stubby wooden handled Phillips. Overall length = 3.78 inches (counting the thickness of the blue cover). Not sure if the blue outer covering is original. I am trying to figure out the manufacturer. On the shaft there are 3 lines of text in a...
