    The VISES of Garage Journal

Yes, fresh jaws. Just haven't had much time to play with it lately. Paramo is a No.1. Picked it up for free, just had to clean it up.

Used Ryobi 18v tools for $5

I snagged a Ryobi 18v Chainsaw for $15. Best tool purchase I've made I think, couple it with a high amp-hour battery and it RIPS through everything. Hard to believe, but until you see it, you can't comprehend it. Had my buddy sharpen up the chain and it's amazing. Purchased the combo kit a few...

    Inflating a corvette 335 zr1 tire? Tools?

What width wheels? Air canon will do the trick the bulk of the time.

Transfer punches, what are you using?

Monte, those are definitly very nice. I would love to have a set of those for my use at work, but I'm limited to the Harbor Freight set due to it being an open machine shop. Everyone borrows every ones tools. No one seems to understand you don't need to wail on a transfer punch with a 32oz...

Budget DRO for a POS Mill/Drill

Looks great. How much were you into the scales for the 3 axis?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

********, that's some good jaw fitment for a first timer. I foresee a ton of filing in my near future. Just need to clean up the jaws, finish the last cuts for the pipe jaw, do another coat of paint and harden the jaws.

    Moving a Bridgport series 2

No! Leave my baby alone! haha. I've got the build guide and exploded diagram of that head somewhere, when I switch all my stuff over I'll try and remember to post it.

    Moving a Bridgport series 2

series 2 is a 2J head right? Parts are easy to find, just need more specifics on what you need. I restored a 1943 Bridgeport M-head with a 9x32 table without any trouble, even the small stuff was easy and cheap. I just reformatted my computer and haven't uploaded my bookmarks, but there's one...

    Roll Cage Installation/Fabrication Tool Recommendations

You have the seam when you use ERW, I mainly use seamless 4130 for anything that needs some merit. Not to mention it's free through work.. Just use the plane of bend bracket so it will stick with you, AND gives you an accurate degree of rotation instead of eying the seam.

    Roll Cage Installation/Fabrication Tool Recommendations

Plane of bend brackets are so you can set your baseline if you're bending in multiple planes, i.e. do one bend, rotate 90 degrees, bend, rotate, bend, rotate, etc. Here's a picture.

    Roll Cage Installation/Fabrication Tool Recommendations

Hell, you jumped in buying everything right off the bat! You'll want 2 digital protractors (about 1.5"x1.5" square with magnets, longer ones are hard to fit on the tube at certain bends), 2 plane of bend brackets, and get some good visible yellow paint markers, or RED sharpies (the red ones...

Is that a Record No.634 Combination vise? You mean I'm not the only one with a 634 on here? :shocking:

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Started bending up a bull bar/winch tray for my 2011 Ram 1500. Have a nifty little program to lay out all my bend points, rotations, cut length, etc. Just lay it all out, then keep feeding it pipe until you've got something. :rocker:

A question for all of the machinists out there

I'll agree with this. I was always **** at math, but knew what I was doing on a machine. I'm a manual machinist now and rarely see much math since the bulk of it boring/facing/drilling, and what isn't laid out on the drawing can easily be solved with the DRO. If I was great with math, I...

Part Wash Fluid - Latest Greatest

I had straight simple green and it froze during the winter, granted it was -38 a few times this winter. Still worked decent after everything thawed out, but I flushed it out for Varsol. It's a steel housing with a plastic pump, no different than any other parts washer I've seen. Slap some...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Looks like a Record No.6. I use the hell out of mine every day and it never complains. Clean it up nice, and it will outlast the both of you. Replacement jaws are still available. I would advise making a custom handle, 13" is the perfect length.

    Hard to find socket

I've got 3 12-point 1" 3/4" drive sockets, all old as ****, bunch of odd sizes in the set too. 1" drive is a tough find.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Not quite the same, but something I use often at work for resurfacing gasket faces on valves, flanges, casting imperfections, etc, is this stuff called "PC-11" metal epoxy. I've re-coated and machined the insides of 300+ PSI steam pumps that run 24/7 at full capacity for months on end and...
