    HF top chest lid adjustment

Yes. With the struts disconnected (even just one) the lid sits perfectly flat. I suppose the struts are just too powerful. :dunno: I could just leave connected, which I may end up doing, but I don't want to end up tweaking the top from one end being supported while the other is not.

    HF top chest lid adjustment

Can the struts (I'm assuming it's the struts that are causing this) on the top chest be adjusted so that the top lid will sit closed all the way? I've already removed the three pins that attach the lid to the locking mechanism bars so that the locks are not engaged when the lid is down, but...

    Ernst socket rail sizes

Does anyone know if different size clips (1/4", 3/8", 1/2") can be used on the same rail, or are the clips and rails unique for each particular size? I'd like to be able to mix and match socket sizes on the same rail, but their catalog isn't clear whether this is possible. Assuming they can be...

Harbor Freight 13 drawer tool boxes $271.99

I'm sure this has been asked in this or another of the thousan HF tool box threads, but I don't have time to read through 85+ pages, and the GJ search function isn't the greatest. Anyway, how are the top and bottom boxes supposed to be attached to each other? There didn't seem to be any...

    Jackstand recommendations

Hmm...I hate to overthink these things (I tend to do that with most purchases), but I'll have to give the USJack ones a look. I must have a computer issue because when I open the Product pdf Explorer terminates on me. I'll have to ask the resident computer technician (my wife ) to...

    Jackstand recommendations

Thanks guys. I had forgotten about Hein Werner. That's probably what I'm going to go with - just need to decide 3 or 6 ton.

    Jackstand recommendations

I've got a pair of no-name 2-ton, as well as a pair of Craftsman Professional 3 ton (yellow), both of which are made in China but have served me well. As I'm graduating from working primarily on my "light-weight" toys (Fiats) to maintaining the general fleet (Toyota van and Honda Accord), I'd...

    Best option for torx bolts

Any comments on the Craftman screwdriver set (http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-professional-7-pc-torx-screwdriver-set/p-00949302000P) compared to some of the others already mentioned? I've had my eye on these for awhile, but haven't pulled the trigger yet as most of my cars (to-date) have...

    Craftsman Professional emblem

Does anyone know of a source of these other than the Ebay seller below? http://www.ebay.com/itm/300718895898?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 It's exactly what I'm looking for, but the seller never responded to a simple question I asked, and I make it a point to never...

    Craftsman 174 piece mechanic's set at Costco--$80

What is your location / local Costco? I didn't see them online (not suprising), but would love a chance to pick up a few sets for my boys of what I'm sure are the last of the USA-made CM sets.

    Craftsman Professional Pry Bar set

Looking for the five piece set, stamped made in the USA (in case they are in the process of changing them). Sears has them on their website on closeout, but when you go to checkout only then does it say its out of stock. Lame.

Craftsman tilting machinist vise - USA made

Wanted one, found one, bought it, painted it, and then realized I would probably never use it :headscrat. New blue hammertone paint, few drill marks and such. Craftsman label was trashed and removed when I painted it, but clearly stamped on top "Made in USA". I'll have to take some pics, but...

Used Snap-on KRA or new HF 44"?

As a longtime fan of Craftsman looking to replace my 20 year old 26" tool box that I've outgrown, I've realized after much wandering of the aisles in Sears that what they currently offer just isn't going to cut it for me, so I've been looking elsewhere, both new and used. There's a Snap on KRA...

Impact Wrench - Craftsman vs IR

A thread awhile back mentioned that one of the Cman impact wrenches was a rebrand / copy of an Ingersoll-Rand model, and sure enough when looking at them side by side the outer construction is identical (different finish aside). The Craftsman one was made in China (no surprise there), while if...

    Dunlap Drill Press - Restored

Having just bought a restored Craftsman drill press from the seller, I can vouch that his dad does great work. I spent about this much, and feel that it's worth every penny. Make no mistake, these are heavy, and shippping is costly, but I was very impressed with the care that went into...

Goodyear Auto Service Center LIED to me about changing my Brake Fluid!!!!

+1. While GY may not have even touched it, that doesn't necessarily mean they lied to you. Mistakes and/or miscommunications can and do happen. I had a friend get new tires installed at a parts store chain. He picked up the car later and didn't realize until later that the rear tires had...

    Craftsman Drill Press Vise

Looking for a USA-made Craftsman vise to go with my newly restored Craftsman 150 drill press. If no luck there, would consider another brand, as long as it was made in USA.

    Porter Cable nailer differences

Can anyone enlighten me as to the difference(s) between the Porter Cable DA250B and the DA250C? Both are described as 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailers, and the on-line pictures look identical. The only difference I can see is the B is about $60 more. I found an older GJ...

    Montezuma toolbox comparison

My local Sears has a few Montezuma boxes on display, and are the opposite - they have a hammered rather than smooth finish. Don't know what model they were. The drawers felt nice, but I didn't care for the textured finish. Looked kinda cheap to me, but then I like smooth, shiny surfaces.

Who makes these cman professional impacts

So where is the one on the left manufactured? I'm assuming nowadays that ALL impact wrenches and power tools are made in China regardless of the "brand". I was shocked as hell to find that both my Craftsman Professional impact wrench and drill were made in the U.S.A., but I don't use either...
