    Electric ratchet: worth it?

I keep a 3/8 drive battery powered ratchet in my work box. Picked it up at a yard sale, it's a AC Delco and as long as it holds together, I will keep it around. Don't use it too often, but is nice to have to run fasteners up or down. Good to use when the space is tight and swinging a regular...

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

Dad had this same toaster in the camper when we were kids. It intrigued me and we kids always were curious about the vent pattern on the toast. Good times.

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

I have not posted in this thread in forever, but found myself at a "business closing" sale yesterday. Walking thru the shop, I spied a familiar shape under a bench. I knew it was a Wilton vise, but didn't know what model. I asked the owner if it was available and his reply was "take it". If...

    Excellent customer services from Grizzly

I had ordered a replacement sanding disc for my belt sander (the sander was not a Grizzly product but similar in construction). The first one I got had a wobble. Contacted them and they sent a replacement. Next had a wobble as well. They kept sending them until we found a true one. Never a peep...

    Flat Free tires went flat

Contact the seller for a refund. Bought 4 FF tires from Harbor Freight for my wagon and they flat spotted pretty quick. They were 2 weeks out of warranty and the store wouldn't help. Called HF customer service, on a Saturday, and got a gift card for full purchase price. Replaced the FF's with...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

Found pair of Corona pruners near the curb years ago. Still using them. More recently, a fellow at work found a MAC 1/4" ratchet handle on the street without the innards and asked me if I wanted it. I sent MAC an inquiry for parts and they sent me a rebuild kit at no charge. Works like a champ...

New mechanic looking for advice on impacts

We use the heck out of the Milwaukee 1/2" gun on a daily basis. Works good on lugs for 3/4T pickups and lighter duties. When the 1/2" can't do it, the Milwaukee 3/4" comes out and solves most problems. We work all over the property so battery power is very handy and those 2 guns hold up very...

Starting Spark Plug with Rubber Hose

Don't forget a turkey baster for small suctioning or dispensing jobs and aluminum foil to form a guide for liquids or keeping oil off of exhaust or frame parts during service.

    Where's Garagejournal Going?

I do have a FB account, rarely look at it. Too much jibber jabber and wading thru that to maybe find something of interest. Just not inclined. I also don't like my searches and posts being mined for profit. This might happen on other forums I look at, but FB and Meta are like a fungus. My...

    Black & Decker Workmate

I have the same knock off style WM bought new at what used to be Pick and Save for about 20 bucks. Has been miss treated for years and replaced the top boards with some oak. Other than that, I will continue to abuse it until it poops out, then break out the real Workmate stored in the shed.

    Wrench organizer comparison

If you want to be real fancy, find some of the vinyl coated steel wire at the home center. Vinyl kinda grips the tool and steel wire holds shape better than copper.

Stop roll pins from walking out?

I have the same/similar mechanisms on my kitchen windows. In the past I would remove the crank and tap the pins back in until the next time they worked out. Last time I did use some Loctite and so far, so good. Don't remember which flavor, might be a retaining formula, but worth a shot.

    Craftsman compressor might be toast

No useful info to share, but I did notice on eBay there are new rods available made on a CNC machine. Look them up but you have to research if these rods will fit your application. In those kits, the pin that holds the counter balance weights together is available as well. Good luck.

    Craftsman compressor might be toast

Will try look at emails over weekend to see if there is any more info. From memory it seems the only new part available was the fan. The other parts were from a member here and feePay.

Old Sears Craftsman 8" Bench Grinder repair advice

You should be able to change the bearings without too much fuss. Sometimes there can be a capacitor in the base and that could be checked as well. Make sure the power cord is in good shape and not on a long extension cord.

    Glass glue

Clear silicone for glass or UV adhesive for glass. Set the part in a box of sand to help steady the part while you work on it.
