Rust removal by electrolysis - My turn

That's good to know. I had read somewhere else that distiller water was better so I went with that. Thanks for the advice.

Rust removal by electrolysis - My turn

That makes perfect sense. The one caliper that broke had printed on "PATENTED JUNE, 2, 1885".

Rust removal by electrolysis - My turn

Thanks for your advice, I'll definitely consider it next time I give electrolysis a try. Thanks for speaking up, that sure is strange. I'm glad, but not really, that it happened to someone else and not just me.

Any love for old snap on ratchets?

I picked up an older black hard handle ratchet off ebay not too long ago for $20. I love it, easily my favorite ratchet. For what its worth, I don't own any "new" or fine tooth ratchets...at least not yet!

Rust removal by electrolysis - My turn

When I did the second tool the caliper, I disconnected the battery and I didn't notice any difference. I let it sit for the same amount of time and got the same results. Maybe there might be a slight difference, but I didn't notice one.

Rust removal by electrolysis - My turn

So after reading a couple of threads about electrolysis rust removal, I decided to set on and try it myself. Like many, I was able to find most of the necessary supplies around the house. Here is what I used: 10amp battery charger 2 gallons of distilled water Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda...

How much for this Craftsman tool box?

It looks like that is the 20" model which they still sell at Sears. http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00961902000P?vName=Storage+%26+Garage&cName=Tool+Storage&sName=Hand+Boxes+%26+Portables&prdNo=24&blockNo=24&blockType=L24 I'd list it for $25-30

Snap On, MAC, Matco and more

The only way you are allowed to post your eBay item is if it has a "Buy It Now" price. Any item posted must have a price listed, so with an auction w/o a buy it now, technically is no price listed. The proper place to list something like this would be the classifieds section. Also, eBay items...

Cleaning Rusty Tools Using Electrolysis (Pic/Video).

Does anyone have any good suggestions for easily removing the black residue that is left when I remove my item from an electrolysis bath? I'm been using a grey finishing pad, but it's hard to get into all the little nooks and crannies at times.

    Schlage Lock sets cheapened!

I had to change the key to a front door recently. However, instead on replacing the entire thing ($200), I just took it to a lock smith and he re-keyed the lock for $10. I'm not sure if this is something you can do with all locks, but definitely worth a call to ask before spending the money to...

Anyone want to help me buld a bench?

First off, welcome to the forum, we are glad to have you! Second, what are your planning to use this bench for? Meaning are you going to be placing fully dressed engines and complete transmissions on the bunch or is it going to be used purely for light duty assembly work? The reason I ask is...

Tool box organization-Metric and standard together or separate?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think I'm going to go with wrenches with wrenches and sockets with sockets. I can definitely see the advantage of metric with metric and standard with standard, however with the things I'm working on it would be much of an benefit. Thanks for all the...
