    My Little Hold Over Garage

As I recall, those old Jags have about two miles of timing chain. A bit complex and a challenge for the mechanic.

    The Fallible Garage

I'd grind the ****** on the vice off. If the repair holds it means the weld got good penetration (which I doubt). If it does fail it can be rewelded with a bit of grinding, a preheat, and the correct rod.

    40x60 attached garage.

If you are acting as your own contractor and building with a bank loan secured by the property you will most certainly need a "Builders Risk" insurance policy. "Builders Risk" is a term policy that covers losses during construction. The one negative for self builders is the length of time it...

    My Very First Shop.....

Where there is a will there is a way. Years ago, when I was living in Tampa I was acquainted with a young guy who built high performance VW motors in a garden shed like yours. I guess the key to making it work is disciplined approach to keeping the place neat and tidy.

    CBacres ex horse barn shop

How much weight will the drawers hold? Same as their 28 inch wide ones? I come close to overloading my 28 inch drawers. Easy to do with machine tools and set up fixtures.

    The Concrete Underground

Doug is back! :bounce: Why am I always the last to know? :tantrum2: Seriously, it really is good to see you back. Life is life and no one is immune to troubles. All of us get bit every now and then and the only cure is to face it straight on and never give up. Sounds like you have that...

An italian inspired villa, in Brazil

The carpenters, the brick layers, the plumbers, and the electricians all say of their work, "It is good enough (or it passed inspection) and the plaster crew will make it all look perfect." You certainly have a well constructed house that is pleasing and last for centuries.

Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The Garage at The Place in The Valley (Garage Condo 45x23x20)

To my eye it looks like the photos of the pre-bezel and post-bezel adjustment are almost the same. I see the correction but the big issue for me is the big plus sign in the middle. Can that be adjusted away? 98 combined diagonal inches is big. I like it and we have a wall in our living room...

Pole barn; foam under roof deck or top of ceiling liner?

I hope your trusses were engineered with consideration for the weight of a ceiling and insulation. Something you should discuss with your builder before you start. The metal roof on my shop sits on 1" of "AgPanel" insulation. Later I had closed cell sprayed underneath. My shop is vaulted with...

When It Comes To Electronics I'm Dumber Than Dirt

Originally we had hard line SuddenLink cable TV and Internet. It seemed like they jacked the price of TV service every month and the "packages" of shows did not match our viewing interest. My wife was talking about it with the lady who does her nails and it turns out her husband was a DirectTV...

When It Comes To Electronics I'm Dumber Than Dirt

No windows for security reasons. I really want cable so I can watch car building shows on Velocity.

When It Comes To Electronics I'm Dumber Than Dirt

I've always wanted to have a TV in my shop. It is fairly close to the house but all of the solutions have required cable and that meant tunneling under some concrete. That, I'm thinking, will be a goat rope and if I pull it off my wife will want a water line under the driveway. We have Direct...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Mixed Grill - From London , England - GRIZZMAKES world

Ranger?? As in FORD Ranger? I thought you wanted a Chevy S10. Chevy built a four door S10 crew cab with a short bed and extended 2 door cab. I'll bet Dennis could chase one down for you. Start with a cheap four cylinder and swap in a small LS motor and a good transmission before it is...

28x28 Garage and apartment in Vermont

I have obsessed on insulation in my 30"x40" shop. Although I still have one wall to go the three high bay lights that came out of an old high school gymnasium keep it warm enough to work in a tee shirt on all but the coldest winter days. The secret, in addition to insulation, is to keep the...

28x28 Garage and apartment in Vermont

The space immediately behind the sheathing and between the horizontal girts is a good place to use 1.5 inch closed cell foam insulation. About 10R. I put it up before sheathing and tape the joints once the sheathing is up. Really tightens the building up and a good complement to fiberglass...

Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The Garage at The Place in The Valley (Garage Condo 45x23x20)

The black looks good but personally I would have gone with the red. Just finishing up a storage project that includes powder coating my two short and two tall Lista cabinets. Red because red my favorite color. Black is cool as well.

40x62x16 colonial red and clay mist build

I put up my 30' x 40' shop doing everything myself with the exception of the concrete and the garage door. I'm **** by nature and lined up the screws with a string. First time I left the dog outside he scratched away on the tin trying to get in. Jinbo has been gone for several years. Every...

    The wet garage raise

You are obviously one of those people I like. You plan ahead and sweat the details. This approach produces something you can really be proud of but it can be tedious. Placing concrete when it is cold produces a strong slab. As long as it does not freeze before it cures you will be OK.
