saferacks/ Overhead garage system - better to install 2x4 across the beam first?

I think ya'll are over-thinking this, try screwing a 5/16" x 2" eye bolt into an overhead joist and hang your body weight on it and see if you pull it out, I seriously doubt you will weighing 150-250 lbs even bouncing around.

Welding cart. All together or separate

I recently built a cart for my Lincoln 175 and Hobart Stickmate and the total weight is right at 300 lbs, it rolls okay on 3" rubber over iron casters. I think I would be better off using 1.5" 16ga rather than the 2" 11ga I had on hand.

    Question about vise jaw replacement...

I went out to take photos and pulled the dynamic jaw off, I hit the jaws with a wire wheel and I don't see screws or pins. There is a good 3/8" of slop between the screw and the dynamic jaw and the threads in the body are extremely worn. The jaws log up close to square so I think I will leave...

That's not my vise, mine is hammered but still functional. I will take photos in the morning.

    Question about vise jaw replacement...

...I have an American Scale vise like the vise below. The jaws appear to be secured with a type of dado joint. Are they replaceable? If so, how are they removed?

Vise Stands. want to show yours off?? i need some ideas for using several vises

I tacked these together this past weekend after reading this thread, I went to the scrapyard and picked out miscellaneous pieces that I thought would work well together. I am going back to the scrapyard Friday for some odds and ends and will find a suitable top plate for the vise stand.

    Creative uses for portable toolboxes

To be honest, one of the boxes could be quite useful for my shooting/reloading gear that I keep in the house. I have multiple Plano organizers on the shelf filled with small parts, tools and other specialty items on the bench and in the drawers that would fit in the Craftsman box.

    Creative uses for portable toolboxes

I have two boxes similar to the size below, one was my stepdads and the other a gift from my kids. I am in a similar situation and don't want to sell them and would rather put them to better use. My first thought is to mount them under my welding table although that would require some major...

Three projects I put off for 8 years...

My parents needed help so I didn't get started until after lunch, they are close to 70 and don't ask for much but when they do I know it's important. The Lennox blade ripped right through the aluminum as you would expect, I bet I could get some real straight cuts on the table saw and may try...

    Security camera installation ... suggestions?

Once you have the system installed, and it runs for a period of time, do you delete the data and start over? Will the system alert you when a camera picks up an image? If the system is destroyed, is or can the data be sent to an internet storage location for review?

Wood Band Saw or Circular Saw to cut steel

The Lennox blade I used is 10", 52 teeth that is correct for the Hitachi chopsaw I own. I used the Lennox because HD did not have the Demon Diablo in stock. There are a lot of videos on Youtube and it does cut almost burr free and I can grab the pieces immediately and toss them out of the way...

Three projects I put off for 8 years...

I hope to have it to 80% by Sunday night, the stands sidetracked me momentarily. I am stuck on the rear wheels, I have the rubber over cast iron 3" casters that are rated about to 500 lbs but I could use side mounted 6" wheels on the rear that would add stability. I agree, I have a bench...

Wood Band Saw or Circular Saw to cut steel

I cut all of the 2" steel for my welder cart night before last with a Hitachi chop saw using a Lennox metal cutting blade in less than a 1/2 hour. I think the spec's are very similar to the Diablo Demon that I have on an old Skilsaw. The 2" is 11 ga and it cuts right through it, the 45 degree...

Three projects I put off for 8 years...

....a vise stand, bench grinder stand and welder cart. I have tripped over the bench grinder and vise or moved both hundreds of times over the last eight years and have used the little sheetmetal Miller cart that came with my MM135 for almost ten years. The MM135 is gone but a Lincoln 175T...

Tool for creating fuel line barb fitting

The rubber hose is rated around 50psi, even GM TBI systems that run around 15psi have pumps that are close to 75psi, I was running an Airtex around 100psi on my previous Jeep, no failures but over time probably not the best idea. I am working on a TBI system for a new project and ran new...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I bought my first Milwaukee, and my first cordless impact driver from CPO, a 12v Fuel and I was floored by the convenience and power in such a small tool and the battery life is great too. I recently picked up an 18v Fuel drill/driver/hammer drill and impact wrench combo off Craiglist for...

    Show your new tool arrivals

After GJ convinced me a 1/4" impact driver is a useful tool, I bought a 1/4" 12v Fuel Milwaukee kit from CPO when they were offering a great deal with extra batteries. It turned out to be a killer tool. Last Friday I was up late and just happened to open CL, saw a 1/2" 18v Fuel impact...
