I just lost HALF my tools!

Sorry for your loss, and like everyone else has mentioned, at least nobody was hurt. I understand the feelings we have for our tools. Some of mine we my Dad's, others haven't been made for years, and a bunch I have "created" for special occasions. A lot like "family!" I have been thinking for...

    The Fun Has Begun

Here's a "cut & paste" of the order. I picked up the post, and the fellow loading it asked why I didn't get a used one. i told him that I inquired about used, but was told they didn't have anything. he said that I didn't ask the right person, and "let's go for a walk." We found a jib laying in...

    The Fun Has Begun

I had to go out and measure it to be sure. 81", and I'm only 5'9", so plenty of room for me!! The steel purlins measure 8" tall, so that was quite a space saver over lumber.

    The Fun Has Begun

Thanks for all of the compliments. No, not yet. it is on the horizon for a "summer" project though. I really want to get it done. I would have used it many times already. The pex was stapled to the insulation, and not fastened to the mesh. I never gave any thought to damaging the pex by...

    Let's see your color schemes

I saw this in another shop, and really liked it...... Dark gray on the bottom to hide the dirt, and a 3" black stripe to break it up a little. Kind of boring compared to some of the schemes here. I'm impressed with some of the people's imagination.

Anyone use porcealin tiles on garage floor?

Just make sure that you check them closely. We got a bunch of them, and the colors didn't match from box to box, and they weren't square. Took them back, and went to a flooring store, and paid $1.69 for the ones we used.

Walls - GWB, OSB or Plywood

I used 1/2" OSB on the walls, and am very pleased with the results. First coat was KILZ oil-based primer, and that was covered with Sherwin Williams latex ProMar 200. Both were sprayed & back-rolled for uniform coverage.

    Fireproof cabinets

I don't know where you are located, but this place is has all kinds of shop accessories, and I bought a new "scratch & dent" cabinet from them. http://www.welterstorage.com/ I ended up spending about triple of what I had planned on, but got a lot of "goodies" on that trip.

    Extension cord storage

I picked up a bunch of Gecko's Toes at a farm show a year ago, but thought they were kind of "cheesey." http://www.geckostoes.com/ After using them for almost a year, I think that they're the greatest things since sliced bread!! Simple & easy to use.

    So what's the verdict

I put this on my new concrete 1 1/2 years ago, and I'm pleased with what I have. http://www.ashfordformula.com/ The floor doesn't look any different, but holds up well to abuse, and cleans & dries quickly.

    thermostat for in floor heat?

This is what I had also. It just so happened to get bumped a couple of times last winter, so I just picked up a non-programmable digital Honeywell for less than $20.00. Works fine for my setup. I just set it & forget it.

    Farm shops

There have been a lot of buildings put up in just the last 3 years, and you are right. There are some very nice ones. It's funny you bring this up Ben. I get inside a lot of these shops, and it's amazing what you can find, both good & bad. I've seen shops with every tool imaginable, but not...

    The Fun Has Begun

I just realized that I never posted any "finished" pictures here. We are really enjoying this building, and very glad to have it. Here's what the outside looks like today... The loft side from the overhead door.... The pallet racking on the south wall.... The clock.... A...

Bit the bullet. Ordered a Bendpak XPR-10ACX

Thanks for the compliment. I think that I can actually say that it's finished. The lift is close, but right where I wanted it..... It's 9 1/2' from the wall. I'd have to look back at the instructions, but that is close to the recommended minimum. The one thing that I've learned is that I...

Bit the bullet. Ordered a Bendpak XPR-10ACX

We are very happy with ours. Haven't used the floor jack since we put it up. (I was looking at the jack yesterday, and the handle is all rusty!!) My wife & I put ours together in one evening. I borrowed the neighbors boom truck to set the posts, rented a hammer drill for the anchors, and...
