    pullling anchors

http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/champ-floor-anchor-pot-1600-p-11538.aspx I got 4 of these, along with the "new floor" plates. I like to fabricate things myself, but I couldn't make anything for what these cost.

    Filling saw cuts

Ben, I got a product from Sherwin Williams, made for this purpose. It's called Stampede-1SL, and cost $15.00 a quart. It comes in the large caulking tubes. I talked to Neil that built the new airplane hanger south of Rock Falls, and he found a product for $4.00 a tube. I haven't spoken to him...

    The Fun Has Begun

I finally got the painting done to my liking. It was just too plain without the stripe... It even looks better with a car inside... Yesterday was pipe laying day. Ran 2" water line, 4" electrical conduit to the shop & house, and (2) 4" & (2) 2" empty conduits from the shop to the house...

    The Fun Has Begun

Mostly Led, some "Stones." :) We had a very productive weekend. We got the outer foundation coated, moved a lot of the chips to the front of the building, buried a tile for the downspouts, and got to the painting... That's me & the youngest son, just getting started with the primer. The lift...

    The Fun Has Begun

It's a typical post frame building. The bottom portion of the posts are treated lumber, and yes, they will rot someday. I'm fairly sure that they will outlast me. We have an open sided post building, with the 6X6 posts, that are at least 40 years old, and they are still solid.

    The Fun Has Begun

These are the ones I got... http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/pc-11538-504-champ-floor-anchor-pot-1600.aspx along with the "new floor plates." As far as my plans for them, I tend to be a little hard on things sometimes, and end up needing to pull, tug, push, or straighten something. These were...

    The Fun Has Begun

I have to apologize for not keeping this up to date. as you will see, it's gotten very busy around here.... We got started with the OSB. and got the lights up... We used a mini excavator to dig the footing... and then built a form with the insulation, and back filled with chips...

    Insulate Unheated Slab?

I know that I haven't updated my "build" thread, and a lot has happened recently. I'll get pictures up this weekend hopefully. I'm getting ready to pour the approach slab in front of the shop, and was wondering if there would be any advantage to put insulation under it. I have enough insulation...

    Protecting buried pipes

We used a vibrating compactor for the base. Added about 6" of chips, and used a walk-behind plate compactor on that. Then the plumber & electrician came in, and trenched in all of their tubing by hand. (I felt sorry for them!) After they had that all set, we got the walk-behind again, and...

New farm shop in South GA, sealer or ?

I'm going with this in my work area.... http://www.ashfordformula.com/ I would love to have a nice epoxy, or painted floor, but I know that I'd be disappointed the first time that I scratch or ding it while doing some heavy repairs. I saw this product in a farm shop, and they were impressed...

    Tubing down, concrete Wednesday.......

That looks nice!! I bet you're glad to have that done. I sure wish you had done it a month ago, because that's when I bought a stapler too. Mine is still unused, sitting in the garage. I might be interested in your extra staples, if you still have them. How close did you space the staples...

slab on grade or stem walls??

Here is what we are doing with ours. Be it right, wrong, or indifferent.... We first dug down around the inside about 28". Then laid the foam blocks down on the bottom. (I got truckloads of 24" X 2X" blocks, 2 3/4" thick.) Then stood the one up along the wall. I was wondering how to hold the...

    Enclosed trailer flooring - Help!

Nope. It looks just as solid as it did when I did it 4 years ago. The trailer was built with crossmembers on 12" centers vs. the standard 16" spacing. Maybe that stiffened things up too.

    Enclosed trailer flooring - Help!

I painted mine with Sherwin Williams 2 part epoxy paint, and am really pleased with it... It's held up very well. I added just a bit of the anti-skid sand that they sell to the first coat, rolled it on, and the second coat over that, without the sand. Made a nice, non-slippery surface. If I...

    Tyvek Idea

Ben, you're beatin' yourself up here. I looked long & hard at the same situation, and finally just bit the bullet. I don't mind doing some work myself, (cheap labor) but if I'm still not satisfied with the results, it was all wasted time. I know that whatever I would have done in my building...

    The Fun Has Begun

It was a pleasure to visit with you also. It's always nice to put a face with a name. You're welcome to stop by anytime, and check out the progress. These guys really got rolling. They didn't leave until 6:30, and are well over 1/2 done. If everything goes well, they should wrap it up by...

    The Fun Has Begun

I've shopped all around for the insulation, and decided to have Slagel Insulation, from Fairbury, IL. do the job. With my work, I get to travel all over the north 1/2 of Il., and get to see a lot of shops. I've seen plenty of their work, and they come highly recommended by many satisfied...

    The Fun Has Begun

After a long, nasty winter, the building is finally up... and the latest floorplan... Waiting for a little warmth to have the closed-cell spray-on insulation applied. They need a dry, 40° surface. I'm going to try to get the holes closed up this weekend, clear off the straw that...
