Pilot won't stay lit on a dayton furnace??

Loosen and retighten the thermacouple connection on the valve. Also make sure the thermocouple bulb is really in the flame of the pilot light. Might also try cleaning the pilot orifices as it may not be burning hot enough if dust/dirt is blocking gas or air flow to the pilot.

    Detached Garage Resale Value

http://www.zillow.com/ Check the value of your house (and anybody elses) along with adding upgrades (new kitchen, deck garage, etc.) Check it often enough and you can watch the value go up and down. Its sort like watching your 401k value.

Shop and Apartment built into Mountain?

The garage I built is similar to what you want. There were lots of computations made as to how much pressure the hill would put onto the walls of it. So in a sense my garage is a retaining wall. The concrete block structure it replaced was crushed well within 40 years of being built. Closer to...

    estimate my garage size

My figuring would be 20' across, 17 1/2' to the roof peak with a 9/12 pitch roof. The depth is a bit harder to calculate, but I'd guess it to be 16' to 18' front to back. That's based on your statement about it being a 30's era garage. The origional garage on my property was built in '46 and...

The rise and fall of building product prices

Today I got rid out some old wire with the insulation on for $2.10/lb. Fifty pounds of it and I do believe 30 of it was insulation. A few years back when I was putting the deck on my garage I had 3 leftover 2x10's. I took them back to Lowes and made just over $12 on them. I then promptly spent it.

    EdenPURE portable heater

That look pretty much the same as a Sun-Twin, except the color of the cabinet. I used a Sun-Twin 1500 last winter in the room above my detached garage. Previously I used two 1500 watt ceramic heaters. They hardly ever cycled off. The Sun-Twin was turned on constantly from mid Oct. thru late...

    Looking for Metric/SAE Conversion Chart

http://www.mcmaster.com/ (I'm like a scratched record, huh?) You can buy one from page 1845. Or go to page 2313 and print it out. When I'm at work and need to find something close to, say a #15 drill bit, I'll look at that catalog. I would think you may be able to get them from decent auto...

    Maryland Variance

What is the real reason for needing the variance? Lot coverage, footprint of the garage more than the footprint of house, detached garage? When I built mine I had to go 5 feet less in length (it would have been 91 sq feet bigger than the house) and take 2 feet off the height (it exceeded the...

    AVOS Grinding stuff

We get those at work. They're ok, but I wouldn't want to be the only style grinding/cutting disc I have. It is possible to catch an edge with them and have them come apart. Even with the guard in place more than half the disc is exposed. None of mine at home or at work have guards in place. I'm...

    Two Doors or One?

You mant want to consider any tax implications, too. In MD, taxes are higher on multi doored garages. For instance, my garage can easily hold 4 cars (even with some clutter), but since it only has 1 door its considered a one car garage for the tax accessment.

What about buying a cheapo metric combination wrench set and cutting a section out to make a flarenut wrench. Who'd want to steal them?
