    Hydraulic Press or Hub puller/grappler/tamer

Thanks, I had checked Autozone, but hadn't checked O'Reily's yet, I'll definitely look into that.

    Hydraulic Press or Hub puller/grappler/tamer

I find myself needing to pull the front hubs on my 2002 Civic, and it seems like there are generally two options. Either I remove the spindle and press off the hub on a hydraulic press, or I can use something like a hub grappler. It seems to me like the press would end up being more versatile...

    Opinions on these legs

I picked them up tonight: $20 for a set of 5, I think that counts as "price is right". Mine will definitely not be supporting that much! good to know that with the proper assistance (like a wall) it could. How needful do you think the wall attachment is? I fully intend to run bracing across...

    Opinions on these legs

First of all, sorry, but this post is totally safe for work. I am planning to build (unless I can find free or cheap first) a workbench for my garage. It has to be sturdy, but I'm not going to be doing anything REALLY heavy duty. Planning roughly 8' long, vise at one end, but mostly just an open...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Hah! I guess that would be the only way to take advantage of this deal. Google shopping should do a better job of monitoring who they put on the front page though. Really not fair to tempt me with that price.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Anybody ever hear of, or buy from Whalegot.com? By which I mean, is this for real? ($53 bucks for a 5 tool m12 kit) If it seems to good to be true, it probably is, so I probably shouldn't even think about it further, right...

Will dewalt come out with a cordless ratchet?

I stirred the pot a bit more than intended with this one! But I guess any topic involving both Dewalt and Milwaukee will, so I shouldn’t be too surprised. Someone said I sounded like I was fishing for a reason to dump Dewalt; I’m really not. You could better summarize my starting point as...

Will dewalt come out with a cordless ratchet?

I thought the same with the Right angle drill, especially since they do market an air ratchet. I know it isn't just bolting the two together, but it seems like an achievable engineering goal.

Will dewalt come out with a cordless ratchet?

Unless my shopping skills are crazy off, that Mac is about twice the price of a Red Ratchet. Facom makes one for dewalt batteries as well, but it is the same 225-240 price as the Mac. If you can show me one cheaper, I'll be thrilled.

Will dewalt come out with a cordless ratchet?

Short version is that the lack of a cordless ratchet is making me reconsider my Dewalt loyalties. At some point I’m going to have to get off my **** and replace my aging cordless tools. I’ve been a dewalt guy up to this point, but all my cordless is on the old 14.4 and 18v nicd platform. In...

How old is this grease gun?

Thanks, I had seen they still existed, but didn’t realize they were founded in the 60s

How old is this grease gun?

I got this recently but can’t figure out how old it is (I just want to know for my own curiosity, because I like to have old stuff I still use). Any ideas? The tube in it looked pretty old-i didn’t think to get any pictures of that.

Which grease for a Dewalt cordless hammer drill

Interesting. Dewalt got back to me, and they recommended a thin coat of CV joint grease. Not the kind of answer I expected.

Which grease for a Dewalt cordless hammer drill

Thanks for the advice, especially not packing it in. That probably would have been my mistake, and that leaning might be why I assumed I needed more. In looking more closely, it looks like the grease in the actual gear box is pretty clean--the housing around it is just so cruddy that I assumed...

Which grease for a Dewalt cordless hammer drill

I'm changing the brushes on an old Dewalt 18v hammer drill (DC 989), and want to clean out some of the dirty grease and replace. Does anybody know what I'm supposed to use? I sent Dewalt an email, but there's no telling when they'll get back to me.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I used a couple of a friend's Milwaukee tools last weekend, and am now seriously thinking of jumping into the Milwaukee waters. I know the major sales are usually at Christmas (which I can't wait for) and Father's Day (which maybe I can), but I'm wondering how much those sales discount stuff...

    Green residue in electrolysis?

Could be that, the bar might have had paint on it at one time.

    Green residue in electrolysis?

Thanks for the link. I've read most of that thread before, but will probably review it again. I did know that stainless and plated were out of bounds, which is why I selected the tool I did. As far as I can tell it isn't plated, although it is possible that it once was. Definitely not stainless...

    Green residue in electrolysis?

Jelly is so much nicer a phrase than snot looking! Yeah I thought the same. It isn't actually sticky--I wiped it off and it is sort of pasty, like the powdery rust that is the result I expected. I just can't come up with anything on the tool that should have done that. The plastic should have...

    Green residue in electrolysis?

I'm setting up an electrolysis tank for de-rusting some old tools and stuff. First time through, on a test run, I ended up with some sort of green snot looking residue on the sacrificial anode. It was just a piece of junk steel. I cleaned most of the rust off of it (but didn't bother getting it...
