    P&C question

Proto acquired P&C and they had a plant in Canada that opened around 1952 or so. They were probably making P&C branded tools at both locations.

i think i over paid plese tell me i dident

When you buy a lot of used tools, you'll get enough cents on the dollar deals to make up for paying a little more now and then. It will all average out...it's not like you put out crazy money.

Made out like a bandit at the Thrift Store today!!

Nice haul. I hit the thrift stores all the time..it is usually disappointing, but once in a while something turns up. Wish some Plomb items would turn up here!

    Sk tools a good buy

Good tools are a lifetime investment. I am nearing retirement and still use the Sparta-New Britain and SK tools I used to work on VW bugs (the real ones) when I was a teenager. I don't remember what I paid for those tools, but it doesn't much matter..they have lasted me almost 50 years. If you...

    whats your suggestion??

I agree with buying used. Its amazing how much stuff is out there that is 20-30 years old and has seen virtually no use at all...and it goes for cents on the dollar. It is a long process to get the tools you need, I started out with mostly a bunch of junk and gradually weeded it out as I could...

That is really nice. Great to see a do-it-yourself project turn out so well. Way cooler than store bought!

    ear protection

I use the foam type... +1 on protecting your hearing, I neglected it when I was young, and now after years of foundries and machine shops, I wish I had taken more precautions.

    Huot top chest color.

The paint on Huot boxes didn't seem to hold up real well, but usually you can take out a drawer and find the true color. My red Huot boxes range from red to almost orange from fading. What ever the color or what you choose to call it..I think they're great boxes. Hope you post some pictures when...

    Huot top chest color.

I've got a Model 100 sitting in my kitchen right now and would agree with fetzer21 that it is closer to silver than it is gray. Both colors are done in a hammertone finish.

    Saturday CL Finds

Great box and a great deal. As long as you're on a roll, maybe you could find some vintage SO roller cabs to go under them.

Huot Experts, Help ID This Box?

I've got a blue square cornered Huot box like that. It has the old style Huot decal rather than a sticker. I don't know the model number as it isn't shown in the Huot catalog sheets I have. I'd like to get reproductions of the decals in sizes to fit my big chests and my other small box.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

The Huot stack is what they called a Converta-Chest, Model 285. It was a modular design intended to be used with or without the casters. I have a catalog sheet for them, never saw one before though, very nice.

    Kroil -vs- PB

When ordering from Kano, I just put my own name for a company name. That has never been a problem.
