    Cornwell Dealer..

I can understand protecting their dealers, but I work a grave yard shift in a machine shop, so it is a little hard to catch up with a tool truck. I can remember ordering tools via mail order from Snap On way back in the late 70's and the local dealer contacted me at home and delivered my...

    Cornwell Dealer..

I'm with you on that. I recently bought two Cornwell ratchets and really like them a lot. I would buy more from them if I didn't have to try and track down a local dealer.

    huot tool cabinet

It is a Model 100 top box and a Model 201, Porta-Cab bottom. I have an old Huot catalog, but it doesn't have any date on it. I have 7 Huots of various types myself...you got yourself a real great deal on those two! Here's some of mine, with a Dayton intermediate box on one and yeah I have blue...

    Thorsen

Some later Powr-Kraft was Thorsen made, after the better quality Wright stuff. I have examples with both names. I would agree that Thorsen was never top of the line, but they are still pretty good tools...and cheap to buy. I like mine and consider them affordable collectibles that I can use...

Most (financially) painless way to convert over to USA made main line?

I agree with a gradual approach on getting the US made tools you want. Almost every time I have sold tools, I have wound up having to buy some of the same items all over again. Now I have a set at work, at home, and another for my truck. The quality of each set varies, but they will all get the...

First Huot box I've ever seen in this area

That looks to be a Model 100 box with 10 drawers. That is the biggest top box Huot made to my knowledge. Hard to say what the condition is from the photo, but it is probably worth $100. The smaller 6 drawer top box seems to be easier to find and can be had for somewhat less. I have a small fleet...

Thrift Store Vintage Find Part II: Huot Top Box

That is a beautiful toolbox. I have 7 Huot boxes and am always looking for more. You are lucky to find such a nice example.

Mat between upper tool box and rolling cabinet?

I use black ribbed carpet runner for matting between boxes. The ribs keep stuff from rolling off the box quite so easily.

Good "Old Fashioned" customer service, from SEARS!

Maybe its just luck, but my experiences with Sears have been really good lately. Once I figured out how to navigate the awful website and how to combine sales, coupon codes, and Craftsman Club specials for maximum savings, I have managed some very reasonable deals. The people I have dealt with...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Those Powr Kraft boxes are great. The drawer layout is really good for precision tools as well. If it was me, I'd just clean them up and use them as is...at $140, I think you got a good deal.

    Kennedy tool boxes

The older machinist chests had square tops and Excelsior locks on the hasp rather than the cam locks used later. I sold a square top about a year ago, but I couldn't say when Kennedy made the change.
