    spell check anyone

What about the big, wall of word posts? Good thing I have a chair at my desk or I suspect I'd get dizzy reading some of those posts. Anybody got a paragraph creator program out there?

    screw VS nail

Sometimes its because they didn't nail into the trusses. When you are running down a roof with a nail gun, it's easy to do (and not know it).

    screw VS nail

For sure. Regardless of whether you screw or nail, you've got to use the one that is designed for the job (that's why we all have dozens of bins/jars full of nails, screws, bolts, etc. :)) FWIW, I typically use screws unless its brad nails for very light stuff such as trim. I've even been...

I can't find a decent garden hose nozzle.

$40? I picked up some knockoffs a few years ago at the flea market. I know I didn't pay more than $10 for a 2 pack (1 just like this and 1 with a pistol grip). I know they are from China, but they've been satisfactory. What stinks is I had a similar pistol grip Craftsman several years ago...

Looking for a decent 4-cycle gas string trimmer

My gut tells me to go with Stihl or Echo.

I can't find a decent garden hose nozzle.

One trick to reduce/eliminate the dripping down your arm is to take a page from the saltwater fishermen: make a leader (I guess in Germany they are called leader hoses :bounce:). Essentially you permanently attach your nozzle to a short piece of garden hose (maybe 5 or 10 feet). Lots of...

    Indoor/outdoor temperature displays

My $20 wireless units have the same issue (batteries, reset, etc) They still tell me indoor temp, but for outdoor temp, I watch the morning weather report and/or use my blackberry or computer. One thing I have discovered about outdoor thermometers. You need to mount them in the shade...

Workbench legs: 4x4s vs sistered 2x4s

I tend to agree Build this one and give it a good workout so you'll know what changes you might want to make for your next one. Believe me, there will be a next one (doesn't take much time to turn a workbench into a storage locker :))

    Anyone have one of these?

I'd spend about $10 and get some of them swimming pool noodles. Ought to be showing up everywhere in a few weeks. Not exactly sure what this means, but it seems like some sort of screw n cable system Per another website Q&A The platform is raised by twin stainless steel cables connected to a...

What's on your walls? Neat storage ideas!

Screws work, too. Pegboards are nice, but not perfect. You have lots of flexibility with where stuff goes and can change your mind. Then again, they do require you to buy pegs and sometimes folks talk about being frustrated when their pegs fall out. Another option is to make some tool...

Naive question re ramps and jackstands

Good tip. I learned this the hard way one time back in high school while changing a tire (luckily nobody got hurt, but I nearly messed in my pants). I now loosen the lug nuts before cranking on the jack.

Or at the very least, using pegboard on the cabinet doors.
