Garage TV - Can It Be Done?

Not to mention the homeowners policy will most likely only cover the item's actual cash value and not replacement value.

Garage TV - Can It Be Done?

Huh? What else is there to a television set than the screen? Not following you. :headscrat

    Notching?

There are lots of ways to make wood joints. The easiest is the **** joint. Notching isn't too terribly difficult either and YES...it can create a stronger joint (not that it's really needed). Notching also allows your support boards to be flush. You might consider marrying some 2x4s to give...

    shop stereo ideas

That's always the $64,000 question, isn't it? :) Also...how do you want it to look? FWIW, I took my 15 year old stereo receiver and DVD changer that I had stored away and simply built a shelf. Connected it to some spare speakers and viola. Prior to doing that I was using a spare set of...

    transfering vhs to dvd

Try Craigslist. You might be able to find somebody out there that owns a DVD recorder or already has the computer equipment. Heck, you can buy a DVD recorder and then resale it (consider the difference your "cost" for having to do it)

Let me see your custom refrigerators !!!

Here's mine. Nothing special (that red toolbox fridge is super cool). I did add a little something to mine to make it a little different, though. :)

    Extension ladder hanging ideas?

The Gladiator hooks will work (might want to use 3 if you are worried) IMHO, that's a lot of $ for hooks (Gladiator hooks are probably $8 a piece and require a special rail...you're talking $30 before it's all said and done). I'd be inclined to use some scrap wood to hang it from the ceiling...

    Used oil containers...

Maybe using a blue gas can would help (although I'm not sure they'll say anything with a red one) .........letting it sit in catch cans until I have empty quarts free...... What's the deal with the empty quarts?

    New Lawn Mower?????????

Front or Rear: I agree with Tatra. If you are going to bag, get a rear wheel drive, but they do take a bit of getting used to because you have to disengage the rear wheels anytime you want to turnaround (with a front wheel mower you don't have to disengage the front wheels, all you have to do...

    Garage exhaust evacuation system

Nice setup, but I think he's looking for something that allows him to keep his door & window shut so he can retain heat.

    paint/prime or nothing at all

Nothin (too lazy). I might regret that decision in a few years :) Some sort of mat might also help prolong the life of your workbench.

Not garage related: How would you finish this fireplace?

I agree Lots of folks are hanging their TVs over their fireplaces (i don't care for that, but lots do). If you do go that route, just be sure its not too high (my buddy's is about a foot too tall for my liking) Heres e one with brick and wood (sorry about the photo size)

    Garage exhaust evacuation system

I also wonder if it might be best to put the exit hole a little higher than the tailpipes? Guess my thought is the hot exhaust would evacuate a little easier. Any thoughts???

New homemade garage cabinet ideas wanted

What if you bought some of those cheap book cases you find just about everywhere (Wallyworld, Staples, etc) and just put some hinges and a door on them?

    The Useless Husky Warranty

Go one step further and handwrite a note to a named person with instructions on what you'd like them to do (gotta really dumb it down for them). Dear Mr. Smith, I've been a long time customer of the Yulee HD and have had many years of pleasant experiences (we often say HD is like an adult toy...

How to thank a great neighbor???

Stores dirty pots n pans when you ain't in the mood for washing and are running out of counter space. :) Who said anything about the wife? Seems the neighbor might have helped you out. :) Box of baked brownies require about 3 ingredients. Yum!

    The Useless Husky Warranty

    1. Be super nice. Too easy for them to say NO to a belligerent customer (not saying you were belligerent, I'm simply saying the humble, nice approach often works better than the "I know my rights and somebody better take care of me" approach). 2. If that fails (again) consider mailing the...

    Garage exhaust evacuation system

Sorta my thoughts, too (meets the criteria of cheap and easy) Those rooftop attic fans aren't too difficult, either. Only problem is they remove the fumes after they're already in the shop. A pipe on the muffler with a bilge fan would help keep the fumes from ever filling up the garage.
