    Need advise on Insulation...

How do plan to finish the inside? Stud up some walls, etc? Spray foam really is best and is really expensive, you definitely get what you pay for with insulation. I would try everything not to use batt insulation. Rigid foam board is a good option as well.

Kobalt double-drive screwdriver no longer available???

I have one and you are not missing much. The double drive thing doesn't work well except for things like outlet cover screws that require zero force on them. Its also big and heavy and rather klunky. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

Is a wire standoff considered fastening?

Just the standoff is good. Just passed my inspection with them with no issues. I don't like how loose the wires are so I Used a few loose zip ties to contain them too

Electrical Code Question Concerning Outlets and Sheetrock Compound

I would carefully cut the mud out, remove the devices and then clean out the box of mud. then shim your devices so they are flush with the wall or get some box extenders if they are really deep. I've used washers, nuts, etc to shim outlets and switches flush with the wall and I only learned...

    under counter kitchen lights

My hard wired lights have the wire coming out of the wall just above the bottom stile of the upper cabinet. Wired to a switch and power feeds the switch. No outlets as they are direct wire flourescents Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

Fibre sheething on ceilings and walls

Sounds like bib insulation. Just had it done on my new house. Bib is blown in blanket. They stick the hose through the fabric and fill the cavity with loose fiberglass. Neat process but the fabric isn't durable and I wouldn't leave it exposed

    Garage Ceiling Insulation Question

If you plan to vent your garage with soffits and a ridge vent like you have, you can't foam the roof underside deck. If you really want the insulation on the deck, you'll have to put the foam vents all the way and you could batts over that. I would put insulation in the attic floor, fir it up...

    Cast-In-Place Max Jax Anchors

How about make a plate that matches the bolt pattern of the lift and put bolts through it and embed the whole thing in the concrete? I haven't done this, don't have a maxjax but if I did, I might consider doing something like this

    Miscellaneous wiring questions.

I'm using the humidity timer switches because my darn in-laws come to visit and they are so freakin cheap they won't turn the fans even though they are mold crazy. When they leave I have to go around and turn up all the dimmer switches they've used as they are all on their lowest setting...

    Miscellaneous wiring questions.

I just finished rough-in wiring for my new house and the fans are on the GFCI circuit though they are above the shower which made that required. I made sure to put at least 1 light not on the GFCI circuit so if it trips it didn't go completely dark in there. OP - I also recommend a timer...

The flaps on the kraft facing go over the stud and overlap each other if done properly.

    Miscellaneous wiring questions.

Yes the 2nd thing. I usually get them in a big bag and they are easy to use. Make sure to get some speedbor bits for drilling holes.

    Miscellaneous wiring questions.

Those red wire standoffs work pretty well if you have 4 or more wires running down a 2x4. I didn't use them on 2x6 walls as they get expensive. You can double up romex under one staple just be careful doing it. You have to have an outlet for every 4' counter like in a kitchen but I wouldn't put...

Begginer advise on heating a garage in MN

call some insulating contractors about blowing insulation into the wall cavities. You'll have some patching to do but it would be worth it over non-insulated walls. If you heat, you should insulate (everything, walls, ceiling, doors)

Why Install The Main Panel In the Garage?

Yes the meter socket is on the side of the garage and goes straight through wall into a pass-through panel inside the garage. from there, it goes to a 40 space 200 amp panel in the basement as i didn't want my main house panel in the garage. For my house plan which isn't anything fancy, the...

Why Install The Main Panel In the Garage?

With my new house currently under construction, the garage was as close as we could get the POCO to put the meter socket. We put in a 200 amp pass through and fed a 200 amp main panel in the house though. My sister has a main panel in her garage and the builder said it was the best central...

    Garage Floor Drain Location

I have 2 9x8 garage doors with a drain centered in each door just under half way in (13' from garage doors in a 28' deep garage). I didn't want water puddling in the middle where you get out of the car, I wanted the slop to drain under the car. Perfectly fine to just daylight garage drains in...

    Hose Reel - 25' or 50' Hose?

I have a 25' hose and wish it was 50' every time I use it. Go for the larger hose reel

Mounting hose reel on wall, general question.

I did something similar. Just use a 1x6 or a 2x6 and span your studs, couple screws in each stud. Then mount your reel anywhere to the board. That's not very heavy after all. Mine has been hanging from the ceiling for a few years
